Financial Stress-Related Migraines....Gone?
« on: April 15, 2012, 02:12:48 PM »
Hi everyone!  I have been lurking here for months, but this is my first post!  Just wanted to ask you peeps a question about your health and stress.

I have had aura migraines since I was 15 years old ( I am now 32).  Depending on whatever stressful thing (good or bad) that is happening in my life, I might get a migraine.

My job is extremely intermittent, and so is my income.  Between September 2010 and April 2011 I did not work at all, and my cash reserves dwindled down to a stubble. The migraines increased.  I was a wreck waiting for the call to go to work.  My migraines had increased to 2 or 3 per day, even waking me up a night!  When I finally went back to work in May, the migraines slowed down, although they were still present.

Work has been pretty steady since then, and I have been actively rocking my finances.  (I have had a $28,000 "change in position" in the last 12 months---paid off my $15k student loan, and saved $13k in cash).  Anyway, when it became clear in December that my student loans would be paid off in full by the middle of January--guess what?? The migraines friggin stopped.  THEY. STOPPED.  I literally have not had one since December 20, 2011.  Has this happenned to anyone else?  Woop Woop!

Jenna that is FANTASTIC! I'm so happy for you.

I've seen the following quote attributed to Ayn Rand and Tom Robbins so I'm not sure who really said it, but I think it is very true:

"There is a certain Buddhistic calm that comes from having money in the bank."

Parizade, that is a great quote. I am stealing it for myself for all the times when I'm sorely tempted to spend, spend, spend.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
