Ever heard of Nomadic Matt?
« on: February 01, 2014, 12:43:11 AM »
http://www.nomadicmatt.com/

Learned about his site just last night as I was searching on tips about travel insurance.

Apart from MMM and family, this young man is living the kind of life I want to lead!  Bravo!

I want to go see all those places.  :D

Traveling the world is definitely a big dream of ours.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

I think his site and ethic is cool.  I don't read that often, but yeah I have seen the site.  There was a great story on This American Life this week about some dude named Johnny Tequila and living life in Mexico on the cheap.  Sounded cool!

Yea, I read his blog a couple of weeks ago and then came across MMM. My goal is to be able to save up enough to go travel extensively for awhile. I have a 401k at work that I put the max amt. into and my employer matches it.  My other savings right now are for traveling. I've been reading this website a lot and some of the ideas on it to get those savings up. I know some people see traveling as trivial/ostentatious/unnecessary, etc. but I see it as a life choice. I only get one shot to live the life I want and it's what I want. As long as I am financially responsible about how much I save, spend, etc. then I don't think it's an irresponsible thing to do. It's no different than putting myself into a lot of debt to buy a house. Once I buy a house, I won't have the extra income to travel. I decided to make a choice and traveling is my choice.

I think I've popped by the blog before but never read it extensively. I'm reading a few of his posts now. Another one I've come across and quite enjoyed is Legal Nomads. Plus a bunch of others... I don't subscribe to any travel blogs, but every now and then they'll pop up when I do a Google search on something relevant, and I enjoy reading and browsing for a while.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
