Electric unicycle
« on: May 09, 2016, 07:46:34 AM »
Has anyone seen those electric unicycle looking things.  It's basically a wheel with peddles that you stand on.
Due to erratic bus routes and scheduling, I have to walk about a mile to the bus in the morning. Leaving work I have to walk 2x..once a mile and once a 1/2 mile to buses.
While I don't mind the walk, especially in nice weather, being able to get to the bus stop faster would allow me to get on the bus leaving earlier in the afternoons (i can't just leave earlier since I'm at work).
I was thinking about a bike but these seem more portable and are about the same price as a bike.
Does anybody have any experience with them?

Hi Merlin, actually I bought one of these thing just two months ago:) It's the most basic model there is - the Airwheel X3. It is rather slow compared to other unicycles, but also affordable - in Europe it`s around 400 euro. The top speed is 16 km/h (perfect for beginners as you can always jump off in case of emergency) and the range is around 15 km. To be honest I think that buying the Airwheel was one of the best purchases I have ever made. I use it everyday to commute around 5 km each way. It saves me a ton of time (commute takes the same as by car and is twice as fast compared to walking/taking the bus). It took me some time to learn how to use it though (I practiced for 30 minutes/1h each day for two weeks before I took it to work for the first time). Oh, and did I mention it`s super fun to ride?:)
