Hah, I read them occasionally at work (where I am now) also for renewed motivation and reminders of why I'm doing what I'm doing.
For instance, I'm looking to buy a house with my wife in the next year or two, saw some very nice (very unnecessary) almost-McMansions in a development 30 minutes from work that are cheaper than smaller older houses near work.
I was getting tempted then thought to myself "I should re-read the true cost of commuting MMM article and think a little more deeply about this".
Conversely though, I also find myself demotivated when I read these forums. For instance, people are clamoring to climb the ladder at work and moving roles and taking on more responsibility driving for that next promotion even though it means more hours, more stress, and a shittier boss.
Promotions will almost undoubtedly come my way and I'm certainly not 100% happy with my income currently. But the realization that I'm already saving greater than 50% of my income doesn't really pressure me as hard as these people to earn more.
