DirecTV Referral Thread
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:55:50 PM »
I know this is a little anti-Mustachian, but I got something in the mail about $100 for each person for a referral.  I did not see any other threads on this.  They should just need my account number and I believe we will both get 10, $10 credits.

My account number is:  019960961

This. Hulu doesn't have a referral worth bothering for, but I highly suggest you check into it, unless you -have- to have sports programming(and even then, a couple of the sports events have gone full-digital, NHL and NFL I think). You likely spend some ~100$/month for cable. You could spend ~20-30$ for cable replacements(Amazon Prime and their original programming, Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll[anime]), spend ~150$/year on your pick of a sport to follow, and still be in the black by several hundred dollars.

We are planning on cutting when our contract is over.  It is only $56 a month, so not too bad.  I more or less have it for the wife.  I never watch it.  It isnt bad, but can't wait for the contract to be over.

I guess it's all about perspective. Between Internet service and Netflix, I only pay $43/month. I am guessing you might also have an Internet subscription and some other subscription. Paying less than you for both these things as opposed to the one thing might add a little perspective. You are paying to be advertised to. (I know there are lots of ads online, but AdBlocker stops all that nonsense ;-).)

Alright, I am jumping on board too. I know we aren't suppose to watch TV. We should be using our time more productively. But I am not perfect. And if anyone else wants to save 10 bucks a month here is my number.

Thank you!

Give your account number (58345622) to the friend you are referring. Make sure they provide it when they call 800-496-6095 to order - they'll be one step closer to enjoying DIRECTV!

Not all of us hate our tv and have the "kill your tv" bumper sticker on the car.

I've got a referral thread for Dish Network, but it's in the Marketplace, here:

http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/mustachian-marketplace/dish-network-$50-off-for-new-customers/

That $50 off is just the beginning with what they will negotiate for a new customer.

I can't actually post referral codes to the thread, because Dish won't honor them if the actual codes are posted on a web site or forum. Anybody that wants one is welcome to PM me, and I'll send one to them.
