Denver rental prices
« on: March 26, 2015, 04:09:42 PM »
It will definitely be happening this summer! My family is moving to Denver and I'm very excited about it. Have been waiting for a change for a long time. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share what they pay in rent (or any friends/family they know of) and in what neighborhoods? Our ideal would be to rent a 3 bedroom house but we are open to town homes and possibly apartments. I'm just trying to get a sense of what to expect. Also has anyone ever used a relocation service? Since we are moving from out of state we may end up using one but I am concerned these might be higher end rentals.

We did not use a service. We had a two-bedroom, bath-and-half townhouse for $1295 near Holly Hill/Holly Ridge (SE Denver). Be warned--the housing market is pretty tight!

I remember that when we were looking last summer, there were a lot of 3-bed, one-bath older houses for about $1600/month. But we really wanted two toilets :-).

I have heard that about the market but since we are moving from SoCal that's pretty much the only thing I'm used to! I'm wondering if it will seem the same or less hectic than looking for a place here.

Check craigslist and sites like rentometer.com for the neighborhoods you're looking in.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Thank you for the advice and I certainly have been, I love to research. However online ads can be kind of impersonal and I thought I might reach out for some unbiased opinions.

What general part of Denver? Is this the city proper or in one of the sprawling suburbs?

We live north of Denver- rental prices were so high we bought a house. WITH PMI it is only slightly more than a one bedroom apartment...
(To avoid face punches: We got a government grant that will essentially cover all of the additional costs for FHA and then some, the property was distressed with a good ARV, we are refinancing to a proper mortgage soon, and we really like the area and will stay a while)
