Cutsom-built furniture
« on: July 07, 2018, 07:26:56 PM »
I need a stand for a large inkjet photo printer (w/shelves for paper, etc) to fit into a corner. I have fairly strict requirements for dimensions and weight capacity. Where can I get a good price online for a sturdy, high-quality custom piece? I'm not too picky about the materials--metal, real wood, pine, whatever (no particle board!). I would like the shelves to be adjustable, and wheels on the bottom would also be a plus.

We have had custom pieces done before, and I know they're expensive, but the ones bought will last a lifetime and they look awesome.

In an ideal world, I would love to build it myself, but at this point do not have time to take up another hobby that would likely never pay for itself. Maybe some day!

Thanks for any advice!

Why not just visit a local cabinet maker if you want a true custom piece?  They can install it and account for any variations in the walls etc.  I would be sure to make the piece versatile if you want to build it into the wall since technology can change...think of all the custom television wall units from decades ago.

I've had custom furniture built by the Amish. I had to drive on site and talk with them in person, including bringing the plans for what I wanted built.  Then send letters back and forth for payment and timing for completion.

It was still cheaper than getting a nice piece retail.

So - for a custom piece, your best bet is searching local.  And for what you need, a custom cabinet builder could do that.

Just wanted to confirm that the above 2 suggestions worked well for me.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
