Worth it for the convenience?

Hmmm, pretty sure it costs more than shopping in-warehouse. Absent mitigating circumstances, I vote no. Un-mustachian to pay more for convenience.

But since you've given me this opportunity for a shout-out: I loves, loves, loves me some Costco! They'll pry my Costco card out of my cold, dead hands.

Not worth it for me. I checked, and it was substantially more expensive. My closest Costco is only 10-15 minutes away, depending on traffic, and they're building one even closer this year.

I'm waiting for my rebate $ to arrive so that I can buy the 32" LG monitor they have on sale.

The markup on groceries or other things carried in-store isn’t worth it for me, especially as I drive by a Costco store a couple times a month on my way home from volunteer work.

However, I did just get a very good deal on a new work computer that wasn’t carried in-store and had it shipped. I got regular tracking updates and a notification right when it arrived, so I didn’t have to leave a Lenovo box on my porch. For large and/or irregular purchases, I would definitely purchase from Costco via shipping again.

Costco PSA: Don't use the actual rebate check to buy the new [insert shiny object here]. The mustachian way is to cash the check, then charge the object of your desire, thus earning future rebates. Costco will happily cash your check. It can typically be cashed out right at the checkstand. When the checks first go out, most warehouses set up a dedicated checkstand just for check cashing, so this is totally legit. Since youre a mustachian, there's zero chance you'll spend the cash on hookers and blow. Don't be tempted by the pizza, either ;-)

And I agree with @OtherJen. Costco Online is a whole different thing.

One more Costco PSA: If you have a Costco Business Center within striking distance, they carry different merchandise and surprisingly often have lower prices than the regular warehouses. In Salt Lake City, they have a massive combo Warehouse/Business Center, all under the same roof. I didn't notice any particular price differences, but I've only been there once and OMG, was it amazing! We were in an already loaded truck, heading for Colorado, but if we had more space/time, I could have done some real damage.

I did not know about this until now. And now I'm super bummed that I'm not really reasonably close to one. Just looking at the typical inventory of a Business Center....oh, boy would I really find it hard to avoid going frequently.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought about cashing the checks and charging the monitor, but I'll do that now.

Their food is so cheap! I rarely get anything to eat there, but I've tried the pizza, and it was pretty good. I remember my daughter wanted water one time, and I thought "Ugh, it's probably $2.50 a bottle", but then we walked over to the machine and saw it cost a quarter. I can live with that.
