Being frugal has made me eternally skeptical of the posted value of almost everything material-houses, cars, cloths, electronics, and even airfare are all just flexible starting prices to me. I truly have started to adopt the philosophy that 'an items value is what someone is willing to pay for it'. Airfare was always a hard one to get a deal on. Up until now, I used flights.google.com to find the cheapest airline but I recently read about an even cheaper site that made my frugal reflexes twitch uncontrollably. Skyscanner.com and secretflying.com use algorithms to figure out when an airline has posted way cheap fare on purpose or on accident. Either way, if you buy a ticket and they confirm the flight you get the cheap price. A key detail is that you need to wait for the confirmation email or they can simply say 'We made a mistake and will not honor that price'. I had a friend get a round trip ticket to Hawaii because it was a new route the airline had just opened up (It was a smaller airline called Spirit Airlines) and they wanted to spread word of mouth. He booked the flight for $120. I was instantly jealous and converted. In any case, I wanted to share in case anyone else is patient enough to track down a deal.
