Chase Sapphire Preferred (will my plan work)
« on: February 19, 2017, 01:17:01 PM »
Ok I got a few questions and maybe someone else was thinking about doing the same thing. I just hit my spend limit on my Chase Reserve card so on to the next one.... I currently have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card and my wife is an AU on it.  I was thinking about sending her the referral link so I get the 10k bonus points. Then she'd add me as an AU for another 5k points and with the sign on bonus we'd get a total of 65k points for free.  Does anyone see any issues with this plan?  Does being an AU on a card count towards the 5/24 rule?

Being an AU counts towards 5/24.  However, if you drop being an AU it will drop off your 5/24.

If you're anywhere near a Chase branch the 100,000 bonus point offer is good until March 11th.  Much better than a 10,000 referral bonus.

Otherwise I think your math works.

^+1. Moving forward it is better to get a separate card for each. My wife and both received Chase Sapphire Reserve. We are sitting on 200K+ bonus points just from that card. And, last month, I received Chase Southwest Premier. Planning on getting Chase Southwest Plus in a day or two so that I can get the Companion pass as quickly as possible for the rest of 2017 and 2018. It would probably be good to get the remaining 6K points through referrals. Any takers? :P

In addition, I heard that Chase Ink Business may up their bonus to 100,000 point sometime in the near future. Something to watch for.

Yea I was eyeing that card also, but wanted to get my wife a sapphire preferred card first since it has zero annual fee the first year.
