Probably a good business decision on Chase's part. They've been trying to collect for over a year; at this point their other option was to sell the (fairly small) remaining debt for pennies on the dollar. So why not get some free publicity instead?

Yeah, I don't think it would have been that much of a loss for them - I had one of those cards, and they shut them down in March or April of 2018 I think, so they've had basically a year and a half to collect.

I'm actually kind of salty about the whole thing still, because that Visa was an AMAZING travel card, and my replacement is substantially shittier. There are VERY few options for good foreign cards available in Canada that both a) have no foreign transaction fees and b) actually work 100% reliably overseas. Needless to say, we bring extra currency with us when we travel now.
