If you have PayPal and Ebay, you could find a discounted gift card (or a few), and do the Buy It Now option. Find cards for places you'd shop anyway (Target, etc) and you'll save 15-20%

If you stay away from their stupidly priced items ($60 shower curtain? WTF?) and go for the on sale with the coupon code deal (4deals), JC Penney has a 65% off online orders on things like home goods, decor and clothing and other general stuff.

I bought some really nice microfiber sheets (deep pocket sheets are a bitch to find under $30 lately for me) for like $18 and had them delivered to the store so zero shipping charges.

I know it's too late, but I would always just buy a gift card to place where I normally shop.

I'm also late, but I'd pre-pay an online bill (cell phone, natural gas, electricity, whatever I could) first.  If I couldn't do that, then I'd do the amazon electronic gift card.

An amazon card is quick-and-easy, but personally I'd think about birthday -- even Christmas -- gifts I'd buy over the next year anyway, and I'd go ahead and order them.

This. A few of our utilities allow this, so I'd pre-pay first. If that didn't work, would move to a gift card. Amazon would be my first choice, followed by the grocery store near me, a Costco cash card, Target, etc.
