car2go cheapest way to own a car?

At the end of this link you'll find a spreadsheet and the invitation to toil with the numbers of car ownership vs leasing vs car2go. Do so, because I expect some real spreadsheet-fu to be done here...

Drive a car.  Not own one.  With car2go you don't own anything.

It really depends on how much you use the car, and how you use the car. car2go charges you a fairly high price for each minute you use the car, but as long as the place you're going is within their service area, you're only paying for the time you're actually driving. The less you need to drive, the more a service like car2go makes sense. The more you need to drive, the more likely it is that the fixed cost of a used, fuel-efficient car will start to pay off compared to car2go's per-minute charges.

Agreed. It's another service mostly fit to citydwellers. In my network I know 3-4 families and several singles who use similar schemes. Most families eventually end up owning a car. Singles, with much more tim on their hands, appear to make better use of these services, too.
