CapitalOne Savings $500 Bonus
« on: January 06, 2016, 04:40:49 PM »
$50K deposit with a $500 "bonus" after 90 days (or 100).  Does anyone know if this is on top of the 0.75 APR?

It is on top of the 0.75% APR, but that's a terrible return on your money compared to other bank account bonuses. You can always find coupons for Chase Total Checking signup bonuses of $300. Here's one. (There's a savings account bonus too but the % return is lower. If you have the money for that one - as I assume you do since you're considering a $50k one - then go for it).

For the checking account bonus you're going to need to maintain $1500 in the account for 6 months to avoid fees, but that's a 20% return in six months, compared to capital one's pitiful 1% return in 90 days.

I'm pretty sure you get the bonus after the 90 days in addition to .75% APY interest you earn in the account each month. Not bad for a safe short term investment - too bad I already have an account; but anyone is welcome to use my Refer a Friend link.

Thx for the info on the Chase Total Checking signup bonuses, that's not a bad deal.   I've got some $ I'm sitting on for the next 6-9 months for a house build.  I figure any of these little bonus programs add up to a free kitchen sink or toilet :-)

Yeah chasing bank bonuses is fun. I got $2795 in bank bonuses last year.

If you want to get more of these, check out Doctor of Credit's blog.
