BLACK FRIDAY Manufactured Spending Gift Card Hacks
« on: November 28, 2014, 09:13:42 AM »
I just returned from Office Max/Depot and Target.

Target gift cards are 10% off until noon today. $300/person limit.

Office Max $20 off $300 in Visa gift cards - had to pay $13 in fees so the net gain is only $7, but hey if you need to manufacture spending to rack up credit card points/bonuses...

Office Max also had 15% off dining gift cards like Olive Garden, Applebees, Red Lobster and $50 in iTunes cards for $40

Overall I got $1390 in gift cards for $1285.

Do you have other gift card hacks you could add? Thanks!

Safeway - a local grocery store - is doing an offer of when you purchase $100 in g/c you get a $10 off groceries coupon.  Cards include amazon, lowes and other retailers.  I've done this one a few times over the years (they always do it this time of year) for items I already planned on purchasing and counted the free groceries as a bonus:)

We buy groceries at Target on a regular basis, so I bought myself a $300 gift card this morning at 10% off.  As I was waiting in (the mercifully short) line, I was chatting with another woman who was figuring out X amount for so-and-so, X amount for so-and-so . . . and I commented that I was just buying a $300 gift card for myself to use for household needs over the next couple months.  She was flabberghasted -- she'd never considered that a gift card could be pre-payment of necessities rather than an actual gift.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
