Birthday Presents
« on: August 08, 2014, 12:16:16 PM »
I have a group of friends who celebrate their birthdays with a get together every year. I was wondering if this is common? Also do you participate in giving bday gifts to friends yearly? Ifso, what types of gifts do you give that don't break the bank?

My friends don't give gifts.  A couple have though for someone's major birthday like 30, 40, etc. but it's rare.  We just get together at a restaurant or bar.

Depends on what they're into, but usually my go to gifts are either alcohol or homemade baked goods. Both are cheap, under $10.

Friends get a "Happy Birthday" on Facebook, or we celebrate at a local pub. Me and my boyfriend do a fun activity (we just went paragliding for his 26th last month) or go to some sort of show on our birthdays, and he can demand I make whatever sort of food he wants on his as well. No gifts, except sometimes I'll bake something they like.

I buy gifts for the kids in the extended family. I don't see that it is necessary for the adults - they want something they can get it themselves.

Friends, no. But I did buy a cake for a staff member's b'day last week. Cheap way keep my team at work happy.
