Best postage service for ecommerce?
« on: September 22, 2018, 08:05:01 AM »
We are putting together our home business plan and next step is to identify the best way to ship things from home without having to go to post office for everything.  Any advice on the best way to do this, ie print postage from home, scale, shipping materials, etc...?

You'll definitely need a printer, scale, and a stockpile of appropriate sized boxes, packing tape, bubblewrap, labels, etc.  Do your research and you should be able to order online for best prices.  Also you can order some supplies directly from USPS.com (like priority mail boxes) and they will ship to your home.

The size/weight of your items will really determine the best shipping method (first class mail, priority mail, UPS, Fedex) etc. UPS will pick up shipments at your home/business.  When you sign up for a business account pick ups are free for the first year.  You can also order some free labels and supplies (they do limit the quantity of those you can order at one time).

This is good insight.

About the postage itself, I’ve heard of Stamps.com.  Any experience with that?  Are there better alternatives?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
