Beautiful day to ride home!
« on: November 25, 2014, 09:18:43 PM »

..60 degrees and storming, with lightning.   :-)

It's very simplifying when you remove your options to be a wussypants; my car is 18 miles away at my old house.  I won't lie, it's hard to go out the door into a thunderstorm when you're dry and it's pouring.  About five minutes in, though, I was in the groove and having a nice ride.

I kinda enjoy riding in the rain when it's warm out like that, I tend to picture myself as a tour de france rider in Belgium.  More badass really, because they don't have to carry their work stuff in panniers the lazy bastards.  :P  Very stiff headwind is really the only thing that gets me miserable these days.

I have raced in the rain and that's an adrenaline rush.. not always in a good way.  Even with clear lenses in your glasses, it's almost impossible to see with the spray off of other riders' tires hitting you in the face.  Then there's the traction issue, and wondering who's going to overcook the next corner and crash in front of you.. I did crash in the rain in a criterium about 5 years ago thanks to a guy not holding his line in a turn and forcing me into the curb.  I slid pretty well on the wet pavement and ended up with only minor road rash.  :-)

Sounds better than the current conditions here.

31°F Feels Like 26°

Cloudy

Locations nearby are reporting snow.

It's nice here today, and yeah I finally rode.  It's been almost two weeks.  It was dark for my morning ride, but I should at least start for home with some daylight.  Better than nothing for this scenery junky.

It was 26 when I rode in here (yes, in FL) about 5 days ago.  My daughter is in Lansing, MI and I think her riding is over for the winter.  :-)

If I lived up north I would have studded tires, I'd be x country skiing, etc.. but I value the relative simplicity of riding in a year-long snow free climate.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
