Bad Mustache Day
« on: July 25, 2014, 10:54:39 PM »
The DW and I were riding our bikes this morning and she crashed and broke her collarbone. Guess we get to burn a little more gas than previously planned this summer...

Ouch!  3 of my kids have broken their collarbones (one by falling off his bike) so I know how painful that first week or so is.  Make sure she doesn't try too much too soon (that's the biggest danger of rebraking it) and gets plenty of rest for it.

Ouch! Out of (perhaps morbid) curiosity how did the crash happen?

+1 to following all work restrictions, bracing guidelines, etc. I broke my collarbone growing up and didn't keep the brace on tight enough, so it healed crooked. Took years and years to straighten out.

Biking... one aspect of Mustachianism I'll never be fully on board. The risk outweigh the benefits, in my opinion.

I hope you don't insinuate to her that the cost of gas is your biggest concern right now!

I feel sorry for you. Biking is sooooo awesome.

She hit some sand/gravel at the same time as she was going up onto the sidewalk from the street.

Lol, no I was very kind and considerate. I knew it was bad when she didn't argue about going to the urgent care clinic. (She did argue about going to the ER so I knew it wasn't life threatening.)

I had mine plated due to poor alignment of the bone fragments and was back riding within the week.  I don't necessarily recommend this, but it worked for me.  :-)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
