Anyone remember Bruce Williams?
« on: April 27, 2015, 12:11:49 AM »
Radio talk show host with some popularity in the 90's. I think it is fair to say that he started me on the path of financial responsibility.

A quick Google says that he is now 83 and no longer making new broadcasts.

If you recall his show, what is your opinion of it?

I listened to his radio show. I was much younger then and most of the information was new to me.

I recall someone asking him about buying a pizza shop that would make him about $30K profilt a year if he worked in the store. Bruce told him, "so basically you're buying yourself a job"

I loved this guy's show, his warm voice, and his signature "I'm so glad you called" goodbye to each caller. He always had what seemed like sound financial advice - sort of a less smug version of Dave Ramsey.

I remember reading how Williams apparently did his show from a studio built into his waterfront home in St. Pete and thinking that sounded so cool. What a way to make a living. I lived in DC at the time but now that I live in Central Florida, I'm going to try to find the guy.

Sorry for the thread drift, but I see this all the time.  I guess the question is if it is worth it to be your own boss.  Given all the headaches of owneship/management and the risk, I would say no, but others might say yes.
