About 10:30 today I rode my bike over to Winn Dixie to buy a box of saltines.
As I drove near the first door I saw a guy there and was immediately suspicious.
I went on by and parked on the the other side of the second door. I didn't lock my bike.
As I went in the door I saw the guy looking my direction, I went in the store and walked
towards the other door to see what he was up to, he came in the door, I assumed he was going to shop, I ran back grabbed my crackers, came back to the self serve check out and dropped my crackers on it and went out the door just to check on my bike. It was gone.
I called the police, the store had a surveillance picture as he entered the store and saw where
he immediately went out the other door. The officer took a picture of the monitor as a record and my bike was gone. I walked home, just me and my crackers. :-(
I called my wife and reported what had happened, I made a round of the local pawn shops, both closed, and went home.
My wife left work early about 4:30 just to look for my bike. She called me," what color is your bike?" Green! "Does it say CD on the seat" Do you mean C9? "ya maybe, "I think I see your bike" She told me where she was and I drove down. I approached the guy, there was a slight altercation, the chase was on, I ran out of my shoes in about 20 ft, chased him a little. But then went back for my bike and truck. I drove around looking for him, and gave up. I was on my way home when I saw him. I pulled across the road next to him and gave him the command SIT DOWN, twice, he put his hands up, and circled around and the chase was on again. The guy was pooped out now and I just followed with my truck as he turned down another road, I had him in a "pickle" back and forth, back and forth, three or four times, him walking, me driving, until a cop showed up and put him in handcuffs. A second cop showed up, it was the one that took the initial complaint, he got out his phone and swiped a few times to pull up the picture, opened the patrol car door, looked at the thief, and said, Yep, that's him.
He had removed the mirror, a cup holder, my bag on the handlebar and he had cut off my chain and lock and installed his own.
I made it clear to him his mama did a bad job.
He's in jail, he'll be out in the morning.
I'll still be without my chain and lock, cup holder, and bag.
But I have story :-)
