just a little thing you've missed.

I like to travel by train but during the pandemic I don't want to mix with the traveling public so I've put off taking a train trip to visit my sister.

I miss her AND the ride on the train.

I'm not a bar person, other than ones with good food, but...
I'm looking forward to going into a bar and having a couple leisurely drinks.

Same. There's a local bar with a large, well-spaced patio for afternoon drinks, but it's very much a dive bar. I want to go to the dimly lit fancy cocktail bar and have a properly mixed Sazerac.

I think I'd almost prefer a train trip in a sleeper car to flying anywhere these days (to be fair, I took my first train trip right before xmas and it was AMAZING).

I'm hoping for Honduras this time next year.  That was pretty much our plan all along anyway.  Just waiting to see if the kid's program is happening and what the airline schedule looks like.  I'll probably spring for cancel-for-any-reason travel insurance this time.

We had a month trip booked for August in Europe. We were going to 5 countries. The airline just cancelled the flight. Maybe next year but at 65 you never know. I have lost 5 friends in their 60’s.

Cassie, I'm so sorry for your losses.

My plan is to visit my family in the NYC area once things seem safe again.  But who knows how long that will be?  I'm in a high risk category for health reasons and my family in NYC are high risk because of their ages.

Hula, thanks.  Luckily we have been to Europe 4x’s but most of the places were new and visiting family in Poland is always special. I hope you get to New York City. My DIL is sad about not getting to see her family this year.

At this point, I’m expecting things to be restricted for so long that I’m not even looking toward any time that is actually “post-Corona” because I doubt that will be anytime soon.

In some fantasy land in the future where we have finally got a vaccine that works well enough to believe getting it gives one immunity, I’m hoping that we can reschedule the trip on the Empire Builder to Portland that we were supposed to have taken in April.

Fly to my home country to see my father. He is 71 and fell in mid-December ending in a traumatic brain injury. I wasn't able to fly back immediately to see him -  as I developed pneumonia (or covid? Who knows) shortly afterwards and was stuck in bed for 4 months. I am finally back to almost full strength again but it's just too dangerous to fly across the world right now. It really sucks that I haven't been able to be there for him - feel like I am not doing my share :( Especially since I am FIREd and if there is one thing I can give, it's time.

So thankful he is recovering and in a good rehab centre. He seems to recognize me on video chat but hard to tell as he is not talking yet. Still, he has taken his first steps and is improving daily! My stepmother sends me videos of him in therapy nearly every day so at least I have that connection.

Watch my son play high school football (can't imagine they will have a season this fall).  Visit college campuses with my daughter. Go to Lollapalooza and Cub games.  Don't realize how much you miss something til you can't do it.

I have heard a proposal to swap football and track seasons in MI next school year.

Not necessarily in this order:

minor league baseball game (no majors without a longer drive)
a trip to the mtns to eat out/rent cabin/be a tourist
visit local pubs and reconnect with friends in person
finally do a return to Europe trip. I lived there for several years, DW and our kids have never been
beach trip plus seafood, museums, etc.

Just casual out and about trips in town or around our region without major planning.

We haven't left the county since February.

Small - live church and gathering for family celebrations like birthdays and graduations.  My Dad is 85 so my brother and I see him one-on-one socially distanced.
Miss the larger gatherings with him, all his grand kids, spouses and other extended family.
Big - vacations - planned on Disney World over Christmas break with my daughter and Colorado hiking with my son over the summer.  Both trips postponed.

If - we live through this - I want to take a series of short trips within the US.
Some would involve nature hikes, others would be trips to certain museums and several botanical gardens all over the US.
... and I will engage permanent, once a week domestic help.
Take a river cruise maybe...

Pretty much the same as what I do under social distancing with the following exceptions:
- visit family/friends on occasion
- ride in groups with other cyclists
- play with other musicians in the same space
- physically go in to the office

Little: Go to church; take communion :(

Big: Move across the country to L.A. so my husband can chase his dreams in the film industry

Frivolous: Travel internationally. I've got a wish list about 30 countries long, but the next one up is probably going to be Italy or a country that's paying incentives to post-COVID travelers.

I mostly can't wait for school to reopen.  I miss being able to work and take care of the house completely alone.

I'd also like to be able to visit friends and family that live 2-4 hours away.  We normally go to the shore to visit my dad a couple times in the summer, and I can't see that happening this year.  He only goes out for groceries, but my husband is an essential worker so we don't want to potentially pass it on.

Oh, and real date nights out.  My in-laws used to babysit, but they're high risk.  Even if we wanted to risk going out to eat or something, which we don't, we'd never ask them to do that now.
