Any Northern Colorado Hunters or Fishermen on here

Pretty new to the area and was curious to see if there's any overlap between my interests of FIRE and hunting/fishing (or just general outdoorsiness really)

I am not a hunter or a fisherman, but I am definitely outdoorsy.  I live in Denver and we own some property in the mountains outside of Fort Collins.  We camp and hike there all summer long.  It is spectacularly beautiful.

Property in the mountains outside of Ft Collins is exactly me. I am all of these things and live in Estes Park. I can help with any questions.

I am 5 years away from FIRE and will 100% be staying in this area.

Very cool. I'm anxiously awaiting warmer weather to be outside even more. DW and I moved out here in August and I just started a new job in Windsor, but we live in FoCo. We were FIRE'd for a few years but decided to go back to work in order to qualify for a mortgage and get health insurance as we're expecting our first kiddo in May. Once things level out expense-wise, we'll hopefully be FIRE'd again sooner rather than later. Are you guys active at all in the NoCo Mustachians meetup group? Oh & just curious, where's the property?

Hey there!

I'm in Denver, I don't hunt much, but I do love to fly fish. I don't really hit up NoCo much aside from Big Thompson River or Poudre on occasion. If you're willing to drive a little bit the Colorado River in Parshall, Williams Fork River (Once damn construction is done), and Blue River in Silverthorne are some of my favorites.

Clear Creek in Georgetown can be lots of fun if you want a quick trip. I tend to stay away from Deckers/Cheeseman Canyon unless it's on a weekday as it tends to be very crowded and the fishing pressure is high.

For a longer road trip, the Arkansas River Leadville to Salida is fun and has lots of public access.

i went elk hunting west of you near Walden this year, saw a ton of moose, deer, and elk, (alas no tags for them) my buddies got 3 elk after i left, beautiful area and quite close to you, also good fishing that way i believe, i saw a bear and mountain lion heading up the pass on hwy 14

my coworkers have good luck with elk in the north west and south west of the state also

Red Feather Lakes is a popular cabin outdoorsy area an hour a way from foco

lots of good speed goat hunting to the north west up 218 towards Wyoming,

I don't participate in the meetups. I know they are pretty active here since the "headquarters" is just down the road in Longmont. I am a follower of this blog, but I think some of my practices, purchases and decisions would be ripped to shreds if I discussed them in public or drove there in any of my cars.  Our property is in the Town of Estes Park. We own 1 in town and 1 about 4 miles outside near the Little valley subdivision.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
