I live in NJ and work in NYC. The transit subsidy is up to $265 per month--not sure what agency you're with so it might vary. There are dozens of ways to get into NY from NJ. Train to Penn station, then subway. Bus to Port Authority, then subway. NJ Transit bus or train. Private bus lines such as Decamp and Academy. There's even a Decamp bus from Northern NJ to Wall St that makes stops from 23rd to Wall St that hardly anyone knows about bc it's only once in the mrning. There's also the Path to World Trade or West 4th through 34th, then you take the subway or walk wherever you're going. Also, once in NY there are thos rent a bike things everywhere so you can ride to your location instead of taking the subway.
The only thing you should not do is drive. Parking is at least 50 bucks a day everywhere and traffic is alway horrendous. YOu can drive to bus, train, or Path in NJ then park and commute in. Or you can ride a bike to same.
