Airvoice Wireless data plans question
« on: April 10, 2013, 05:50:45 AM »
Hello!

We have the $10 Iphone 250/500 plan through Airvoice, and its been great. We buy our $10 refills through www.ultimatemobiledeals.com for $9.70 each and have spent a total of $77.60 in four months for two iPhones - an incredible savings. Thanks MMM!

My question is about switching our plan for the month of July. We are heading on a two week family vacation and will need some data on the road. Instead of buying a wifi hotspot for $70+ and a monthly plan of $20+, couldn't we just switch our Airvoice plan for one month on one of our iPhones to the $40 500gb plan and switch back to the $10 plan in August? This would save us the $90+ for the equipment and data plan charge and not require us to carry a separate device around.

I'm sure I can find this out with a little research and it makes sense since Airvoice is a prepaid service, but wanted to see if anyone here has done that. We would invest in the FreedomPop device but it isn't supported in our neck of the woods or where we are heading for our vacation.

Thanks!

Yes, you can easily switch plans... but you will lose any accrued balance you may have from the $10 Talk & Text plan when you switch.

You can also avoid most of the data you're likely going to need/want by using an offline GPS map (or printed maps from the chamber of commerce) if that's part of the expected needs.
