There is something very satisfying about the clean and shiny look of a properly polished mirror.

Years ago I saw someone on TV whose official job was French polisher.  He must have had the patience of the biblical Job, but he loved it.

Indeed that was my first thought too! Although "mirror grinding" would be a better description. I actually ground a mirror when I was in high school for a reflector telescope.
