80k Delta SkyMiles Limited Time Offer: Thoughts?
« on: June 14, 2017, 08:42:07 AM »
Have any other CC churners gotten a "prescreened" offer for an 80k bonus Delta Amex Platinum?

-70k miles after $4k spend in 4 months
-Additional 10k points if you can blow through $25k in "purchases on the card in a calendar year with Miles Boost"
-Offer expires 8/17/17

80k Delta miles is a hell of a lot, especially since they never expire.

The first 70k are easy enough to understand. The additional 10k is where I'm a little confused. Does calendar year mean the rest of 2017? I definitely can't spend $25k in 6 months on this card. Also, what does "with Miles Boost" mean? Do I have to actually spend $25k through their Mileage Booster program? To be honest, most of my biggest bills aren't eligible for CC use. I would be a little hard pressed to spend $25,000 on a CC in 365 days.

Let me know if you know the answer to these questions, or your general thoughts on the offer.

I just got approved for this card, I ignored the 10K since that's not an efficent way for me to meet min spend.  This card is a no-brainer, you get 70K conservatively worth $800, you pay $195 annual fee, get $100 statement credit if you get say a Delta gift card, you profit at least $700.   If you are over 5/24 for Chase, I would do this.

Got this card too! Combined with my Venture card paid for a free trip to Hawaii.  I also ignored the last 10k.  Its still well worth it!

That's good to hear, I was leaning towards ignoring the last 10k as well. If I'm not over 5/24 for chase, should I still do it? I've done CSP and CSR, not sure which one to do next...

I currently have the Gold Delta SkyMiles card (applied Sept 2016) and received the 50k signup bonus last year. I still have the card because I plan on flying in a few months, thus I want the free checked bag. After that I plan to cancel before the annual fee kicks in.

My question: Would anyone happen to know if I can sign up for the Gold Delta SkyMiles Busines card and get the 60k signup bonus while still holding the regular Gold card? Just wondering if I have to cancel my regular Gold card first.

I got the Delta gold a few months ago for 75,000 miles w/ $3000 spend.  The miles credit quickly and annual fee $95 .  May or may not keep it but the free checked bag is nice as is the priority boarding.

Yeah, but it's an American Express. They lied to me about how much I could put on the card for my business before the first payment was made and then cut off my card on a Thursday night while I was buying things to fix my truck. I was without a credit card and car camped in a hot truck with so much inventory my seat wouldn't go back. I asked them what they were going to do to keep me as a customer over a week ago, they have refused to call back on that.

They did the cut off on BOTH cards Thursday night and I was already scrambling with other things to prepare for a show a state away. I almost ran out of gas because I had to find a 24 hour station.

Can anyone confirm whether they're approving folks at or above 5/24 for this card (the AmEx Platinum/Delta)?  I'm at 5/24 right now but will be at 4/24 in November.  I've been planning to hold out until then to apply for any more cards, but I really want to apply for this one for that 70k bonus.  What do you guys think, is it worth trying for it even though if I'm approved it'll push me back over 5/24 for another year?

It's Amex, not Chase, so they don't care about 5/24.

Yeah, they put me in a financial review locking up my accounts for like two weeks for spending "too much".  I made every payment in full, on time.  Why the hell do you give me a credit limit if you won't let me actually use it?  Big ticket purchases are going on other cards now...  Hope Amex enjoys the lost swipe fees.

Yeah, I mean I was cancelling both within the first year because they're fee cards, but they definitely lost swipe fees.
