Is it "oversharing" to mention you got married or any other major milestone in your life that you worked hard for? The old trite "don't talk about money" taboo is over-rated imo.

Well, when you're talking about your happy marriage to the friend that has not pulled that off...whether by bad luck or bad habits....maybe it is...I try to know my audience

Sure, but sharing your net worth for the whole world to see on Reddit may be asking for trouble. I realize it can be anonymous but even so, this is an entirely unnecessary risk to stroke one's ego.

If 'sharing' NWs is self- or other- motivating, its probably a good thing.

I keep things close to the vest numbers-wise.

I do like to learn and share where possible, but prefer percentages.  Maybe just being paranoid, but if you don't volunteer hard numbers, no one can use them against you.
