Ms. Rightflyer basically RE'd 3 years ago (@49 y.o.)

I'm semi-FIRE'd... always seems to be one more interesting (and lucrative) project coming up.

I will probably never really retire... but have been FI for some time now.

Picked the 51-55 bucket.

I *reckon* that what we'd like is for me to "retire"/become SAHW/only do the odd bit of fun work around 35-40 and for my husband to retire around 65. So averaging that out, around 50! I'm 26 (no children) now, so a lot could change, though.

It always seems to me like there are a lot of American super-high earners ($100k +) who plan to retire really early (35) on this forum but I haven't seen many UK very-high-income very very early retirees. Maybe it's because we don't like to talk about money so much :)

55 for me. My birthday falls close to the end of the financial year, so it works out nice and tidy from that aspect.

My initial plan was to take a career break for a year at 55, doing no work for the first six months and maybe some odds and ends of casual/seasonal work for fun but nothing related to my usual occupation in the second six months. I've never had time off work apart from 13 weeks of maternity leave when I had each of my children (and even then, I didn't stay away from work completely) and 18 weeks off with occupational burnout in 2015, and you only get one shot at living so I wanted some time to call my own while I'm reasonably young and healthy. But I want to have the option of being able to afford not to go back

52 is our current target for full retirement.

That seems like it might be misleading though, as we're both (my wife and I) planning on reducing our working week to 3 days per week from our 30's onwards.

Retiring next year - I'll be 63 and Mrs PD will be 60.  Not very RE I know, but we were hampered by financially terrible divorces in our forties - pretty much had to start together with next to nothing.   We've done OK since though.  We were FI a couple of years ago really, but 'er indoors wants to continue till her 60th birthday, so the pot keeps growing nicely!

I'm working towards 55 at the moment, but still quite early in the journey as I'm in my early 30s and the (small) stache is c.100k for myself and the same for the Mrs. Currently this looks like a 25% pension contribution (with bonuses sacrificed in on the top) and another 15% to ISA with more from unexpected windfalls or additional badassity.

55 seems reasonable as it's the point I can start pension drawdown so that's what I intend to aim for, with the normal ISA and then the LISA playing backstop until I reach state retirement age, which by the time I get there should be around 150.

44 is my stretch target but you've gotta give yourself a challenge right? If I stuff up I still reckon I can escape before 50!

Agreed, cool how it all works out as the meaning of life.

And on topic, I'm aiming for just before 40.

Interesting to see that there are lots of people attempting to genuinely attempt FIRE at younger ages and people applying the MMM principles at all ages! Well done UK

I am planning on 55, May 2023, few more years to go yet.
Using a pension at 55, with interest of savings and drawing down a small amount of savings, until I can take state pension at 67.
Plan now is to save as much as I can in ISA and shares ISA and reduce out goings and simplifying life in general.

Aiming for FI at 50, work as and when I choose and RE at 55. Would like the option to fully FIRE as soon after 50 as practical.

Seems a long way off but I have 5 years 'till 50, so who knows ...

I'm FI now with wealth of £1.2M at age 44.  Could pull the pin now and be on a WR of a bit less than 2.5%.  Doing OMY while I watch the Brexit shambles unfold as my plan is to emigrate to the Med.  Will RE in the summer of 2018 no matter what but it might change our destination between Spain and Cyprus.  Aim to have well and truly registered our presence in our new home country before March 2019.

I agree, I wish they'd get it sorted sooner rather than later, I fancied a few FIRE years hanging around europe, which looks on the rocks now (or at least a lot more paperwork).

Hi new here. I'm aiming for 52 at the moment. Plans are to travel ASAP, but had children late, so might need to hang around for a few more years. If I do, I might keep on working, but switching what I do for bread and butter now :)

Early 50's for me I think. FI means more to me than RE so am likely to work part time for longer than I actually need to.

My current plan puts me out between 36 and 38...

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
