Has anyone ordered from Approved Foods?
« on: March 21, 2018, 01:42:38 PM »
http://store.approvedfood.co.uk

They've been on my radar for a while, and I've been looking at them wondering whether to do an experimental order, but it seems like it's mainly branded food reduced to the price of own-brand food. So if I'm buying own brand food anyway, will I really save that much? Wondering if anyone has any tales to tell about ordering from them, or advice on where the real savings are.

I had an order from them a few years ago which was problem-free, and still look at the site and try to fill a basket, but there's never enough of interest to justify making up a full load to maximise postage. And a lot of the same products are a similar price in discount stores like Poundstretcher and Home Bargains, and buying budget brands in a conventional supermarket can be even less expensive.

I've never ordered from them, but was quite interested a couple of years back. Similar to TartanTallulah though I couldn't find enough to justify the postage. Just visited the website again to see if much has changed, and annoyingly the best offers I found are limited per customer, so you can't even stock up on a really good deal. I think if you're on the ball with your food shop already then you won't find it particularly useful, as can be said about a lot of things that a certain Mr. Lewis recommends on his website in my opinion.

I did a few orders from them at Uni. Still have their cardboard boxes around the place aha!

I only bought stuff to satisfy my student sweet tooth, didn't consider it for anything else as wasn't sure to trust other stuff. I guess for non-perishables it could be reasonably cost effective for branded products that you already buy.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
