Hi all,
New to the forums but thought I should reply to this thread.
I've just sold my TVR Chimaera 5.0 after 9 years of ownership so if you want any real world advice then please ask away.
Thanks for the reply, first questions would be why did you sell and are you looking to replace it with anything?
Well, I'd had a blast for 9 years, thoroughly enjoyed it - both driving and maintaining it (it didn't need much other than what i decided to do to improve bits to be honest)
Ultimately the decision to sell came down to circumstances and needing the money for other things. It had increased in value in the time I had it but if I didn't need the money at the time I would probably still have it.
However, there were a number of limitations with that car - primarily it has 2 seats and I have 2 children. This meant other than using it on my own it was 1 child at a time which means you don't really use it. The cerbera, I guess, would be less of an issue for 2 small children.
Replacing it? Yes, I would like to but I'm focussing on my finances in a new was right now (hence being on this forum). Also, the issue is, with what?
I like the bonkersness (is that a word?) of the TVR and I like convertable but I really need more than 2 seats otherwise I'm back where I started. Doesn't leave many options.
In your situation - I would scratch that itch - otherwise it'll annoy you. Make sure you are doing it over and above other long term financial planning - and then go for it. you won't lose much money over a year or 2 and you'll have a blast!!
