Thank you both very much. There have been a couple of times I genuinely worried he might die but he seems to be improving now. I'm navigating the bureaucracy and I have help with translation via the British Consulate. I feel very grateful to everyone who has tried to help us and I'm doing my best to understand why some people chose not to.

Hello Fig,
No advice except be tenacious with unhelpful people and travel health insurers. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well - it is very stressful! We have been in similar circumstances before so all the very best and perhaps you could update everyone when you are both home safe, sound and healthy.  Best wishes _- Clodagh
