My life as a banker to the banks
« on: August 07, 2018, 03:44:13 PM »
I've been stoozing*** since '05 or so, picking up a couple of hundred quid a year in interest. As always I missed the best era for this being late to the party, but still done ok with it.

However today took a most surreal turn, with my 0% cards ending their rate after a two and half years (!!) I applied for a Santander card as not only was the 0% long lived (27 months :D) but also charged no fee, lovely ! So where is the balance earning me money.... well in Santanders 1-2-3 account. Yep, Santander are loaning me a very large sum via a credit card at no cost to me, which I then generously loan back to them for a 1.5% annual fee. Yep - I kindly now supply Santander with standard banking services, who knew capitalism could work that way ?

If anyone would like help in picking up this free money for themselves, please feel free to reply ! Does require you to have (A) some willpower and (B) not be too debt laden.

*** Stoozing: To load up a credit card during the 0% promotional balance and keeping the money in interest bearing accounts. When the 0% teaser rate ends, give them their money back or better yet, transfer the balance to another 0% credit card.

I was in a similar position once - I had a mortgage with Barclays where I was paying about 1.5%. I also had a monthly saver with Barclays at the same time, paying me 6%. Made me laugh :)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
