Race from 1MM to 500k left to accumulate for FIRE

Figured we'd get a little less ambigous and focus on the whole package here not just racing to acquire wealth but racing towards how much you need left.  Someone else could start the lower ones if they fit those categories.

Fire goal - 1.5MM
Current Invested Stash - 520k
Needed to reach FIRE - 980k

Lol! That's what it sounded like to me as well. I've read the title multiple times, and it still sounds like a race to spend 500k.

Thought, I'm guessing for a Mustachian, it might be more difficult to spend 500k than save 500k, so this really is "throwing down the gauntlet".

this thread isnt the same. 

That thread is a race to accumulate wealth.  This thread is a race to reach your FIRE goal.

I interpreted the title as meaning you would reduce your spending such that you only needed $500k to FIRE instead of $1 million... (i.e. reduce expenses from $40k/year to $20k/year)

You could add "left", "remaining" or "still" to the title to enhance the clarity.

The race from to 1MM and to 500k dont really include everyone.  just about anyone can join in a thread where you're racing downward. that was more my point.

How about "Stache needs ____ to FIRE countdown" for a title. 

Normally, countdowns are for time, but you are doing it for stache needed to FIRE.  I think it's a great idea for a thread.
