Oct 2017: 527k
Dec 2017: 554k

Mar 2018: 666k
Jun 2018: 711k
Sep 2018: 784k
Dec 2018: 774k

Mar 2019: 830k
Jun 2019: 875k

Savings rate has slowed down. That’s because I’ve started coasting. I was burning out for that extra couple thousand a month. It wasn’t worth it. I’m happy with our $10k-15k monthly growth in net worth.

Necro-ing this old reply of mine to update the table:

NET WORTH PROGRESS
=================================
$0 - $100K:        approximately 6 years (2004)
$100K - $250K:  approximately 5 years (2009)
$250K - $500K:  approximately 4 years (2013)
$500K - $750K:  approximately 2 years (2015)
$750K - $1M:     approximately 2 years (2017)

NET WORTH PROGRESS
=================================
$0 - $100K:        approximately 6 years (1998-2004)
$100K - $250K:  approximately 5 years (2009)
$250K - $500K:  approximately 4 years (2013)
$500K - $750K:  approximately 2 years (2015)
$750K - $1M:     approximately 2 years (2017)
$1M - $1.25M:    approximately 2 years (2019)

Still not to the $1M mark in terms of liquid net worth (which is at about $950K)--but it's fascinating to think that it took roughly the same time to hit my first $250K of total net worth (11 years) as it did the next million (10 years).

realized that i  front loaded our 401k investments for this year.
i was like, 'we have no $ in the bank'
oh, yeah, bc we invested 30k in 401k's already in 2019
and the stocks have gone up over 14% YTD

Net worth today is just above $992K, which is up from $966K on May 5th.

Some of this gain is based on an adjustment to the value of our house. Still using a pretty conservative estimate, since I find the sale of comparables ridiculously high.

This put us SO close. May just hold up updating again until we hit the milestone!

Half way through 2019. I wish there were more major milestones; once the plan is in place, it gets a little boring just chugging along!

Congrats to @TempusFugit, and probably to @LeftA, by now!?

2012: $208,846
2013: $308,056 (no expenses, gross income went to investments that year)

I didn't start tracking until this year. Probably going to tally it up twice a year, or maybe quarterly as I get closer.

Jan 2019: $710,249
July 2019: $803,765

Slowly but surely I just keep pressing forward...  investment accounts only.

EOM         Dollar Amount   (I invested)     {total change}
Dec 2016  $322,818          ($30,604)
Dec 2017  $438,627          ($40,177)        {$115,809}
Dec 2018  $518,373           ($87,168)       {$79,746}

Jan 2019  $572,058            ($9,743)         {$53,685}
Feb 2019  $603,363            ($4,010)         {$31,305}
Mar 2019  $616,382            ($7,800)         {$13,019
Apr 2019  $643,599            ($2,500)          {$27,217}
May 2019 $638,398            ($29,928)        {-$5,201}

I added the dollar amounts I invested () an the total change from the previous {}  I think this puts some more detail to how and why it changed.  I do like seeing when the total change vastly exceeds what I put in each period

June 2019  $679,549          ($2,200)     {$41,151}

Congrats! £600k was our initial target which I forecast we'll get to in October. Will probably hold on until April next year at approximately £650k now.

What’s your target?

Funny that this is occurring on the US holiday known as Independence Day.  :)

Onward!

Can I play? I haven't participated in a "race to" thread before, but my spreadsheet is lonely!

Quarterly, from the first time we passed $500K:

10/1/18 $502K
01/1/19 $480K -- Q4 market drop
04/1/19 $546K
07/1/19 $579K

My number includes home equity, because the way I look at our FI target includes home equity. It doesn't include roughly $30K in cash that sloshes around our checking and various short-term savings accounts.

Currently expecting to hit $1M mid-2023.

08/02/18  $873,766
09/04/18  $904,996

Looking at these numbers makes me realize how nuts the market is right now. It's gonna hurt when the dip comes, but we'll just have to ride it out!

Haven't posted in a really long time. Looks like it might be time to join the next thread. As for the jump in net worth, I don't have any novel investment techniques, I just got married back in December. :)

Here's the latest on the goal to Investments = $1M, hitting a new benchmark on 6/12.
This will slow way down since we're buying a new house, remodeling it, and carrying the other house too until we can move into the new one and sell the old (wee!!!!  so not MMM).

date         NW        Investments
4/3/14     $430k         $225k
9/19/14    $500k         $275k
11/6/14    $550k         $300K
5/9/15     $600k         $341k
4/13/16    $650k         $375k
9/7/16     $700k         $410k
5/6/17     $750k         $674k (*I think I lost history on one of our accounts prior to this)
9/9/17     $800k         $717k
11/22/17   Assets hit $1M
12/15/17   $850k         $770K
3/10/18    $900k         $770k (refinanced house, put $ in and moved from 30 to 15 yrs)
6/16/18    $950k         $818k
12/26/18   $900k         $750k
1/10/19    $950k         $803k
2/19/19    $1M !!!       $856k
6/12/19    $1.05M        $900k

Here's my progress thus far:

1/1/2015 - $319,018
3/31/2015 - $358,647
6/30/2015 - $350,887
9/30/2015 - $329,044
12/31/2015 - $340,246
3/31/2016 - $390,030
6/30/2016 - $408.983
9/1/2016 - $447,834
12/31/2016 - $459,043
3/31/2017 - $509,618
6/30/2017 - $520,691
9/30/17 - $553,269
12/31/17 - $557,941
3/31/18 - $583,773
6/30/18 - $590,057
9/30/18 - $610,690
12/31/18 - $579,919
3/31/19 - $683,428
6/30/19 - $706,159

Still going up, so not bad, and on pace for $100K/year increase if that pace keeps up.  Seems small after the crazy $100K increase in 3 months, but was healthy.  I will likely be rolling out about 15% into kid's college fund sometime in October after things move to short term capital gains based on feedback I got on a forum thread about where I stand with kids college savings.  In short I will fully fund savings goal that has 7.5 more years to run with the goal of then having that "checked off" and then all savings going to FIRE and not having to figure out if things are headed where we think they are.  The savings will be in my NW number but I can then more easily remove the amount to know what I really have for FIRE.

Alright, time to derail my FIRE plans :)

We just bought a house and spent a bit more than we wanted to but WOW it's amazing. Surely will hault savings for a month or two here with odds and ends. Our monthly costs will increase around 1.5k a month instead of the expected 1k. So $500 more for 10x the house. To put this in perspective, we make 12k a month after taxes and were spending a whopping $1k on our current mortgage for our tiny townhouse. So we were looking at 2000-2500 now. We ended up on the higher end of that.

Either way, we pushed out fire PROBABLY 2-3 years by moving at all, and maybe 6 months of that is due to the overbudget purchase part. We were thinking 3 years, probably in the 5-6 club now.

I made peace with this :)

Hey Anon, congrats on the new place. No facepunches here.

It's all about living the life you want while being conscientious about your financial choices. It looks like you are doing exactly that. Well Done.

Thanks! We are soooooooo excited. Plus, I am exaggerating the FIRE delay a bit to be facetious. It was really only 3-600 a month more, even then, its literally 100x better in my internal rating system :) ha.

On a side note, its pretty awesome to have the bank question you for assets and showing that you could literally buy the house in a truck sized load of cash. I guess I have this forum to partially thank for that.

As a fun mathematical side project it would be interesting to see differing FIRE dates if we would have had bought this before saving our $600k~ stache vs now vs post fire.

My guess is that because we pre-saved so much it will hardly matter now (hence the 2-3 year guess). Around 30-50% of our yearly NW increase is probably growth at this point, something we won't lose. (a 10% move is a whopping $50-60,000 for doing literally nothing)
