4/1/19 $236k LNW / $756 TNW

5/2/19 $242k LNW / $764 TNW
1% increase, even after paying $3500 property tax and taking the wife on a camping trip to Zion NP for "baby moon."  Stock market's increasing, but I think its mostly due to my BTC position.  Up 27%!  Now I've got a whopping $290 of imaginary money.

We had lots of financial fluctuations last summer (new jobs, unexpected medical and legal bills, etc), so I took time off from tracking and have just started back up.

I had been pretty frustrated last year because it didn't feel like we were saving enough, but I see that in the last 12 months, we saw an 80k increase in investments and $100k improvement in net worth.  I'm hoping we can do better through the rest of this year.  My goal is to hit $1M in 2023.

congrats @Tracyl-5 ! Your post had me look up when we hit $500K. It was in November 2016.

I don't calculate net worth so often, but as we approach $1M I'm finding myself calculating it much more frequently.

NW on March 30, 2019 was $943K.
NW (today) May 5, 2019 is $966K.

At this rate will be at $1M way before initial predictions of the latter half of 2020.

Thanks!  So it looks like you'll probably hit it even faster than I did!  I find myself wondering how much faster my next $500K will go ;o)

cash+rental equity       add primary residence equity
1/2016      $507K                      $627K
1/2017      $625K                      $797K

9/2017      $784K                      $904K

12/2017    $762K                      $903K  - remodeling primary residence! When project is done, big increase in equity!

3/2018     $725K                       $866K - still remodeling. Framing and all exterior done, all bills paid! (to contractors)

6/2018     $763K                       $910K    Hmmm. Zillow values for rental properties went way up. Making progress on the remodel.  Plumbing, insulation, electrical done. Just drywall, flooring remains!

9/2018    $830K                       $945K   We're painting this weekend! Just flooring and trim left on the remodel!  Cash went up because we paid off a bunch of credit card debt with HELOC. (0%promo rate was ending)

12/2018   $821K                      $964K   Slow and steady progress on the remodel. Thinking about selling a rental in 1stQ or 2ndQ 2019.

3/2019    $833K                       $977K     Just trim is left on the remodel. Rental house is on the market.

6/2019  $820K             $953K      Had to buy a roof for the rental house. It now is under contract, though. Hope to close before the next quarterly update. Substituted real equity in the total now that we know the sale price for that one. (Zillow values still used for other properties)

1MM dates now   6/2022            3/2020

Dropped a bit from the market. Funny how "A BIT" is now $36,000 now, more than quite a few new cars out there.

Anyway, I jumped to a W2 FTE roll and am withholding huge amounts for taxes to get ahead of some 1099 work I did. Also saving some cash not listed in NW for a house down payment.

In other words, the market is going down and I am not pushing cash into it at the same time due to unrelated events. Oh well! Should be back to normal within a few months.

I'm new to this thread but we passed a NW 500k around October of 2016, and we're are 975k right now. A 475k increase in two and half years feels absolutely insane.

I expect to be bouncing around 1MM for awhile with some planned larger expenses, possible market corrections, etc.

One month later and we bounced down to 950k, now back up to 978k, but going back down 15k or so with a tax payment.

5/2/19 $242k LNW / $764 TNW
4/1/19 $236k LNW / $756 TNW

Good-buying market month (i.e.- bad for stocks), still up slightly.  For now, I'm still pumping money in, so I hope the market keeps tanking.

I hope so, because if your fancy new mountain bike costs $8-$9K, then you need to post pictures of it so we can see what something like that looks like.

Hi All,

Graduated from the 250-500k club back in June 18 but waited a while to join this one until it seemed like it would stick. Look forward to seeing how I do on this race - alot of the previous gains came about from getting married and combining assets.
Assets include primary residence, rental property, and investment portfolio. Liabilities are two mortgages.

                        Assets   Liabilities   Net Worth
July 2018            $939k        -$433k         $505k
August 2018        $956k        -$431k         $525k
September 2018  $975k        -$435k         $539k
October 2018       $953k        -$435k        $518k
November 2018    $962k        -$429k        $533k
December 2018    $962k        -$427k        $534k
January  2019      $977k        -$425k        $552k
February 2019      $1004k      -$428k        $576k
March 2019          $1024k      -$424k        $600k
April 2019             $1049k      -$427k        $622k

Looks like about a year to go from $500-600k. I was initially house heavy (1 primary + 1 investment), so nice to see the liquid portion of Net Worth continuing to ramp up.
May 2019             $1051k      -$423k        $628k (+6k)
Slightly up mostly due to putting in money in both retirement and taxable. Happy to see it was up with Mr. Market slightly down - this is most likely due to the stock market being a smaller portion of my net worth than most others here.

We passed 1MM NW today for the first time today. 1.004MM to be exact.

Unfortunately we've got about 20k in payments due in the next few days, so back down we go.

But still, I like a good milestone. It has been just under 6 years since I joined this forum, and a bit over 7 since I realized we were just treading water financially. That feels like a short amount of time, but it has also felt like a lifetime.

Ha! Yes, to be clear the new number was based on me getting around to updating my spreadsheet, not on current market prices. The prices I used are from sometime last week, although not the same day for different accounts, probably. I don't take keeping my records 100% up to date and accurate that seriously, so I suppose it follows I shouldn't take particular milestones that seriously either.

Savings rate has slowed down. That’s because I’ve started coasting. I was burning out for that extra couple thousand a month. It wasn’t worth it. I’m happy with our $10k-15k monthly growth in net worth.

$100K - $250K:  approximately 5 years (2009)
$250K - $500K:  approximately 4 years (2013)
$500K - $750K:  approximately 2 years (2015)
$750K - $1M:     approximately 2 years (2017)

NET WORTH PROGRESS
=================================
$0 - $100K:        approximately 6 years (1998-2004)
$100K - $250K:  approximately 5 years (2009)
$250K - $500K:  approximately 4 years (2013)
$500K - $750K:  approximately 2 years (2015)
$750K - $1M:     approximately 2 years (2017)
$1M - $1.25M:    approximately 2 years (2019)

Still not to the $1M mark in terms of liquid net worth (which is at about $950K)--but it's fascinating to think that it took roughly the same time to hit my first $250K of total net worth (11 years) as it did the next million (10 years).

i was like, 'we have no $ in the bank'

Net worth today is just above $992K, which is up from $966K on May 5th.

Some of this gain is based on an adjustment to the value of our house. Still using a pretty conservative estimate, since I find the sale of comparables ridiculously high.

This put us SO close. May just hold up updating again until we hit the milestone!
