December 2013: 142K
December 2014: 231K (+89K year on year, although numbers back this far are a bit fuzzy because my old student loan providers have wonky websites)
December 2015: 326K (+185K year on year, including self-financed wedding and 60K assessment paid mostly in cash)
December 2016: 511K (+185K year on year)
December 2017: 698K (+187K year on year)
March 2018: 667K
June 2018: 689K
July 2018: 723K
September 2018: 765K
October 2018: 721K. Down 44K this month. $1500 a day! Ooof.  I think I have invested about.... 100K this year (plus principal on my mortgage), and I have 23K of it to show. Condo valuation also went down a bit.
November 2018: 739K.  I have a 2K home expense and probably an 8K divorce retainer pending, but at least the market has recovered a bit.  I also have my annual bonus coming in a few weeks, so it shouldn't hurt too badly.

Jan 2017 - £346,854
Feb 2017 - £388,581 (+£41,727)
Mar 2017 - £396,119 (+£7,538)
Apr 2017 - £401,345 (+£5,226)

Jun 2017 - £411,132 (+£11,513)
Jul 2017 - £409,299 (-£1,833)
Aug 2017 - £413,486 (+£4,187)
Sep 2017 - £415,586 (+£2,100)
Oct 2017 - £434,692 (+£19,000)
Nov 2017 - £438,434 (+£3,742)
Dec 2017 - £452,034 (+£13,600)
Jan 2018 - £456,088 (+£4,054)
Feb 2018 - £467,243 (+£11,155)
Mar 2018 - £463,199 (-£4,044)
Apr 2018 - £453,874 (-£9,325)
May 2018 - £475,489 (+£21,615)
Jun 2018 - £489,292 (+£13,802)
July 2018 - £499,919 (+£10,267)
Aug 2018 - £512,818 (+£12,899)
Sept 2018 - £510,749 (-£2,069)
Oct 2018 - £515,784 (+£5,035)
Nov 2018 - £504,527 (-£11,257)
Dec 2018 - £512,686 (+£8,179)

A slight upswing towards the end of November means we end up back where we were in August.

This year has been the most disappointing for increasing the stash. Was hoping for another £100k in terms of contributions and growth, but have to settle for £60k.

Anyone else going to do an end of year review?

I will post an end of year review on 1st Jan (ish!).  I was targeting towards 600k (+100k gain), not going to make it by a long shot (might hit 60k bit like yourself).  Missed the 1st Dec update as I was sick but will post all the numbers at the end of Dec.    There have been a lot of months where forward progress has been a problem!!!

It's been a while since I posted.

Stash (NW):
April 9, 2016:  $319,737
April 16, 2017: $379,833

March 8, 2018: $500,818
March 30, 2018: $505,467 ($924,670)
April 30, 2018:  $510,215 ($937,731)
May 31, 2018: $514,410 ($950,830)
June 30, 2018 $525,227 ($964,045)
July 31, 2018: $535,419 ($984,617)
August 31, 2018: $557,743 ($1,011,442)
November 30, 2018: $543,559 ($1,012,390)

House up, stash down after 3 months investment.  I'm probably better off looking at this quarterly now anyway :)

No kidding, the market continues to go crazy...

Another annual update:

April 2016: $500k -----> saved $54.8k (~75% of income), 90/10 allocation
April 2017: $651k -----> saved $53.4k (~73% income), 60/40 allocation
April 2018: $777k

My investment risk tolerance has shifted over past couple years with political situation, and resulting lower returns last year. Now at 80/20 allocation.

Aug 1 2018: 838k

A 61k increase in 3 months is almost my annual post-tax salary, and seems totally unsustainable.

Dec 2018: $799k, back in the sevens. Down from a high of $873k in Sept, crazy jumps. Asset allocation remains close to 80/20, right on course. Might try some tax loss harvesting before the year's out though.

Jan 16 - 346K
Jan 17 - 450K
Jan 18 - 596K
Today  - 675K

The numbers still shock us. FIRE goal is 2023-24 ish

Note:  this is family net worth.  Our home we live in, is included.  We are debt free now, so I expect the numbers to grow faster. No rental income, but that thing was teetering on the brink of a financial apocalypse.  Old roof, appliances and heating were 22 years old.  We closed last week.

Jan-16      $257,514.77 (+49,787)
April-16    $277,918.06 (+20,403)
July-16     $306,073.47 (+28,155)
Oct -16     $357,689.04 (+53,415)
Jan -17     $405,710.23 (+48,021)
April -17   $446,004.04 (+39,424)
July-17     $496,327.00 (+50,322)
Oct-17      $535,958.74 (+39,631)
Jan-18      $617,102.81 (+81,144)
April -18   $649,856.20 (+32,718)
July -18    $704,760.25 (+54,904)
Oct-18      $768,090.42 (+63,330)

Compounding is beginning to accelerate. Savings Rate, however, BY FAR!!!!! still drives the quarterly NW increases.

JGS

Looking forward to doing some crazy nerdtastic end-of-year spreadsheeting in 2 weeks.

No update until early January, but I'm beginning to be curious as to where I'll end up.  If you asked me 10 weeks ago, I'd say I'd hit 800K no problem at all. Today, however, after recent market losses, I'd say I'd be lucky to reach that milestone. Heck, 790 would be nice. The market gives and the market takes away. In any case, it's STILL all about the savings rate for us accumulators.

Oct 2017: 527k
Dec 2017: 554k

Mar 2018: 666k (updated value of rental property)
Jun 2018: 711k
Sep 2018: 784k (updated value of rental property)
Dec 2018: 774k

I was sad for about a minute comparing December numbers to September numbers, but then I realized that, compared to one year ago, we are up 220k. That’s pretty amazing, even though we missed our goal of reaching 800k. Oh well, in a way that’s good since we are still in the accumulating phase. Makes me want to OMY for a few years though to take advantage of the market correction.

Not depressing. Amazing! Think about how many more shares/units you are able to purchase with your cash now that prices are down!

Staggeringly, yes. That’s household NW with two high income earners. And my husband is a few years older. But honestly most of that has been crazy market returns on top of solid monthly investments. At this point it almost feels like Monopoly money - unreal. The way December has been going I expect we’ll be lucky to close out 2018 still above $700k...

I'll be moving down to the race to $500k next month. My spouse and I have been separated for 6 months and are moving ahead with a divorce and splitting our assets 50/50 starting Jan 1. It's been a tough year, but I'm really looking forward to to 2019. I might even be back in this race as early as November. We'll see!

Welp, ending this year at $777k. First time since I've been tracking that I've had a down year, ouch. Even without the roughly ~30k in medical expenses I'd still be down, but not as dramatically. Oh well, here's hoping 2019 is better for my NW!

+162k this year! Pretty awesome bump and definitely more than my salary. Have some significant planned medical expenses next month that will put a ~5k dent in that, but I'll enjoy the number for now. :)

Year in review 2018

Aprox income c£60,000 (2 ppl) (down about £15k on 2017 due to business slow down)
Living costs c£30,000 (2 ppl incl all outgoings) (about same as 2017)

Year Start £497097
Year End   £547415
NW Target  £575000
NW Target missed by £28k

Total cash saving input c.£30k

Increase in NW £50,318 (lowest in last 3 years)

Notes of interest
Crossed 500k line (a few times!)
Spring saw slow growth, summer picked back up.
BREXIT issues in the UK causing problems toward end of 2018.
BREXIT may cause more issues in 2019 plus possible global slow down.

Goals for 2019

Total NW £620k (reduced from £680k)
Reduce living costs by at least £5,000 by end of 2019.
Protect position as much as possible and ride it out!

Main FIRE targets 2018

FIRE Date target end of 2022
FIRE number target £850k

No change in FIRE targets for 2019.

Overall summary
Slow year, but cant complain.
Would prefer to not repeat in 2019 but could offer opportunity to buy investments cheaply.

Here's my progress thus far:

1/1/2015 - $319,018
3/31/2015 - $358,647
6/30/2015 - $350,887
9/30/2015 - $329,044
12/31/2015 - $340,246
3/31/2016 - $390,030
6/30/2016 - $408.983
9/1/2016 - $447,834
12/31/2016 - $459,043
3/31/2017 - $509,618
6/30/2017 - $520,691
9/30/17 - $553,269
12/31/17 - $557,941
3/31/18 - $583,773
6/30/18 - $590,057
9/30/18 - $610,690
12/31/18 - $579,919

Well, nearly wiped out all gains from 2018, but with the late recovery was up $30K from the low point of the quarter right before of Christmas Day, when I was below by 9/30/17 amount.  Not adding a lot each month (about $1,000) as we are piling some into kids college funds and such, about $30K diverted there in 2018, so we are at this point just making progress with market gains, and given the hammering of the last quarter, there were none of those.  Hope everyone has a great 2019!

Liquid NW / Total NW

1/1/16: $455k / 675k
1/1/17: $555k / 822k
1/1/18: $735k / 1.071M
5/17/18: $765k / 1.112M
6/29/18: $773k / 1.137M
7/31/18: $795k / 1.170M
8/31/18: $813k / 1.189M
9/29/18: $811k / 1.192M
11/1/18: $772k / 1.160M
12/1/18: $796k / 1.182M

1/1/19: $765k / 1.152M

Some losses, certainly, but still gained $80k in net worth in a down year thanks to a much more robust savings rate.

Closing out 2018

                 LNW      TNW
Jan 2018 -  846K  /  987K
Feb 2018 -  880K / 1.02M
Mar 2018 -  859K / 1.00M
Apr 2018 -  855K /   996K
May 2018 - 856K /   999K
Jun 2018  - 875K / 1.02M
Jul  2018  - 887K /  1.03M
Aug 2018  - 922K / 1.07M
Sep 2018  - 944K / 1.09M
Oct 2018  - 948K / 1.09M
EOY 2018 - 877K / 1.02M

So, an increase of ~31K in LNW in a down market year.  I guess I'll take it.  It required saving >50K to move the gauge upward, though.

Could've been a whole lot worse.

Ok, I'm genuinely surprised to be down after the last quarter, but oh well. I don't think I can really complain about 145K year on year Net Worth gains and the privilege to buy stocks on sale while in the accumulation stage. My heart goes out to those approaching FI or who have recently FIRE'd, however.

Nothing to see here, carry on folks.

Down $26k this month and overall off $45k from my high in SEPT, no surprise there really given the market.

Overall 2018 was a so-so year for the stache, having grown "only" $46,000 in the last 12 months. Given that the market is down 7-8% and I am nearly 100% VTI that means I managed to buy enough this year to offset the drop AND add $46k. I think we managed to save some 70k-90k in total.

Compared to 2017 where we were up something like 100-150k year over year it feels small, but that is how it goes sometimes!

Here is to a great 2019! We project saving much more due to my DW getting a huge promotion!

December 2018: 766K (+68K year on year).  Doesn't look bad, but I put 60K in the market this month, so it's not great. I paid that 8K divorce retainer, though!

We contributed $62k to our investments in 2018. Below numbers are our invested assets and do not include the value of our pensions, home equity, or the kids 529 plans. Glad we at least had a minor gain to our 'stache in 2018!

End 2015- $482k
End 2016- $628k
End 2017- $811k
End 2018- $813k

Should have contributions of around $65k in 2019, $70k if we can keep our costs down! Good luck to everyone in the New Year.

Sheesh. What a finale to the year.  On this thread, I usually post an update when I hit another networth benchmark.  Evidently, to participate, I have to note the benchmarks in BOTH directions!

Here’s hoping to a better 2019 trajectory.

12/18 Update - $803K; $250K in home equity, $17K in cash, remainder in investments. Hurts to go down from prior quarters, but I'm still up ~$85K over last year, due to new contributions and an aggressive-ish mortgage paydown.

9/18 Update - $850K; $245K in home equity, $7K in cash, remainder investments. Up $180K YOY. I just turned 39 and would love to hit $1M by/during my 40th year. That's mostly up to stock market performance, so it's an arbitrary goal, but a fun one no less...

6/18 Update - $799K; $231K in home equity, $11K in cash, remainder in investments. Up ~$170K from when I first started tracking in earnest a year ago (I know, I know). So grateful for the inspiration from MMM and this community!

3/2018 Update - $756K; $222K in home equity, $5K in cash, remainder in investments. It's refreshing to see we're actually up in total over last quarter, although about half of it is home appreciation, which I consider total funny money as we have no plans to sell any time soon.

12/2017 Update - We hit a big milestone this quarter - over $500K in investments!
Current totals - $719K; $194K in home equity, $5K in cash, remainder in investments

9/2017 Update - $670K; $187K in home equity, $10K in cash, remainder in investments

Somewhat embarrassingly, I didn't starting keeping close tabs on my net worth until finding MMM this year. Thankfully, I didn't muck it up too bad up to this point, but I'm hoping to do even better now that I know better! So, let's start here...

6/2017 - $630K; ~$180K in home equity, ~$10K in cash, remainder in investments

I'm part of a group of people at work who post their ROR's on the 401K. no one was positive, most returns ranged from down 8% to down 3.8% during calendar year 2018.

Beat them all!  Down 9.3% per XIRR.  Wasn't a good year to be heavily into International Small Cap and Emerging Markets.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
