Joined in Oct one day before the market went kaput and high tailed it back to the 100-250 thread until now. I can say I feel much better about reentry with 270k than 251k.

This month has been phenomenal due to the market bouncing back, and some additional 2018 IRA stuffing. Next month or two should look pretty good too with additional IRA stuffing.

I am hoping that 2019 ends with me over 300k. Hard to imagine a couple years back that I'd ever be here projecting this.

Hi everyone. I just joined recently and thought it would be a good idea to join one of these threads. I was all set to join the $100k - $250k thread but was astonished when I added up our net worth for the first time that we (couple) belong here already! We only get a reliable value for our workplace pensions once a year (April) but here are some initial figures:

April 2018: £302,380.53 ($399,445.59)
March 2019:  £310,316 ($409,928.37)
(this will go up by a fair bit when we get our next pension statement)

We've only recently opened S&S ISAs (husband's is a Vanguard LS 80, mine is a Lifetime ISA with Nutmeg, which gets a 25% government bonus on everything I contribute) but we've always contributed to our workplace pensions at 8% with a 18% employer match (plus an extra 1% matched but that is sadly ending soon - USS pension for any UK readers). We also have a rental property and a small cash emergency fund, which we keep in an offset mortgage account. I'm not including home equity in our NW figure as we're unlikely to move anywhere cheaper any time soon.

Ps. I'm not sure whether I'm in this thread until I hit $500,000 or £500,000? Anyone else working in a different currency?

Welcome Moonpalace! Feel free to stay here a while, but hopefully not longer than you plan.... : )

Got sidetracked a few months with the lead up to and arrival of our DD, who is little and cute and hopefully won't throw the race to 500k too far out of whack!

05/01/2017:  $198,456
05/15/2017:  $200,404
05/31/2017:  $207,044

07/05/2017:  $219,933
07/17/2017:  $225,853

08/24/2017:  $228,854
09/01/2017:  $237,500
09/19/2017:  $245,500
10/02/2017:  $251,933
11/07/2017:  $266,000

03/01/2019:  $400,283

Was hoping to graduate this thread at the end of 2019, but with the market correction and arrival of DD, we'll see.  Nevertheless, keeping tabs here really does help keep me in the right mindset, so back to regularly scheduled updates from rainy California!

I'm somewhat cheating because I'm going from a Single Person Net Worth to a Dual Person Net Worth, but my fiancee and I just graduated from this club!
Assets include both primary residence and rental property. Still have the wedding to get through - we'll give it a few months before leaving this group for good.

Month      Assets   Liabilities   Net Worth
December 2016   $451k   -$219k   $232k
January 2017   $524k   -$217k   $306k
February 2017   $526k   -$221k   $305k
March 2017   $538k   -$216k   $322k
April 2017      $483k   -$216k   $267k

October 2017   $516k   -$207k   $309k
November 2017   $518k   -$205k   $313k
December 2017   $526k   -$206k   $320k
Merged Finances
January 2018   $864k   -$441k   $422k

May 2018      $931k   -$434k   $497k
June 2018      $940k   -$435k   $505k

After another 9 months since this date - I feel like I can officially call us graduated (assuming no '08 type dip). See ya in the next race!

I realised that I have numbers for the last three years s here they are while we wait for this year's pension statement:

April 2016: £220,440
April 2017: £261,650.42
April 2018: £302,380.53

I also realised that I can get an estimated monthly update so I'll start recording that at the end of each month too.

Does anyone else calculate their "12 month net worth gain" as well?

It's kind of mind blowing to me that since I started tracking that, it's almost always been above $50k. It's looking like by the end of March it'll be in the $70k range compared to 12 months prior. And that's with us borrowing from ourselves for most of our 2019 giving in December of last year!

I really should be keeping track of actual contributions (401k, mortgage principal, cash savings, etc) to see what is direct contribution vs gains. It's also a bit depressing to realize net worth for us is still down compared to the middle of last year, though part of that is finally rolling my wife's 403b into a 401k and having the match officially lost I guess.

We're a lot more slow but steady compared to a lot of rocket ships here, too lol :-)

Posting April early because we're going on vacation next week!

Sept. 2018 $252,544.08
Nov.  2018 $248,197.15
Dec.  2018 $256,394.61
Jan.   2019 $252,481.67
Feb.   2019 $287,793.45
Mar.   2019 $304,683.46
April 2019 $311,927.67

I'm not sure how our great our May 1st number will be, between vacation spending (eating/shopping, as the big stuff is already paid for), some medical expenses, and a home improvement, but my hope is that we at least don't go backward (I don't think we will).

Nov-17 - 300k
May-18  - 375k
July -18 - 400k
aug-18 - 410k
Mar-19 - 415K

totally at the mercy of the markets as I work my way through all the debts and costs post divorce.

any changes I make are easily wiped out by a small drop in the market. Once I get done with a couple of my outgoings then I should be good. not too long in the scheme of things. In the meantime the markets getting back to September levels wouldn't be the worst thing ever.....

Smaller increase this month due to costs associated with refinancing my mortgage and, to be honest, some overspending. But hey, I hit $400k for the first time as a single person!

01/31/19 - $381k
02/28/19 - $399k

Apr-18   $252,693 - INV $385,040 - NW
May-18  $263,950 - INV $396,500 - NW
June-18 $268,500 - INV $401,900 - NW ---> hope markets stay low for a while.

It is interesting that the assets like primary home provide so much stability in rough times. If we have a paid off home or enough cash to pay it off safely invested it provides much safety in difficult times.
Jan-19 $290132 - INV $373300 - NW ---> Big bounce back. But I wish it came after Feb. Its likely there will be more opportunities due to various uncertainties in current short term.
Feb-19 $317800 - INV $406000 - NW ---> Big payday of the year helped cross 300k easily.
Mar-19 $323000 - INV $411500 - NW ---> Not much to say this month. we went on 2nd vacation of the year already and so associated expenses affected the growth.

Hello High Net Worth People! I just graduated from the last thread. Weird to think this is a race towards $0.5M, such a big number! Little does the market know that although the race doubled, our household income also doubled year over year, so ideally we will blow through this race in record time against a strong headwind stock sale.

I update my values quarterly:
Quarter StockBondCash  +House
Q3 2016:  $112,200     $165,800
Q4 2016:  $124,300     $178,500
Q1 2017:  $148,300     $203,300
Q2 2017:  $160,548     $217,018
Q3 2017:  $178,042     $235,102
Q4 2017:  $203,082     $260,736
Q1 2018:  $213,941     $272,491
Q2 2018:  $223,802     $283,554
Q3 2018:  $235,666     $296,330
Q4 2018:  $229,947     $291,293
Q1 2019:  $284,421     $346,689

The house is strictly an investment property as of this quarter, so I could consolidate it into a single column. but what the hey. I am only racing non-house assets in the challenge.

Feb- 262.7

Apr- 295.8
$16.1k/5.79% increase

Tax return time. Last year's medical spending blood bath at least had the upside of a big return.

Up $9,245 to $321,455. Nothing special on my end this month, just market magic.

Month   Networth   Investments
04/30/17   $125,786   $67,858   <---- Discovered MMM / LBYM
09/30/17   $168,105   $100,416   <---- 100k Invested
01/31/19   $311,711   $251,061   <---- 250k Invested

Not too shabby. Looking to receive a decent tax return hopefully in April which may boost us into 300k territory.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
