Never thought I'd see the day that I would post in this race! But here I am, checking in. Pure insanity.

Might as well start this off clean with no nested quotes. The highlights:

2014 - $115,000
2015 - $161,000
2016 - ?
Early 2017 - $235,000
Year End 2017 - $253,000

And as of now, with values rounded for ease:

Assets

Primary Residence Value - $175,000
Commercial Property Value - $55,000
Vacant Property - $15,000
Newest Real Estate Deal - $12,000
Retirement Assets - $25,000
Cash Assets - $34,000
Vehicular Assets - $16,000

Liabilities

Primary Mortgage - $1000
Secondary Mortgage - $38,000

Net Worth - $293,000

So actually I'm clocking in a little late. The biggest jump was due to the fact that we just got a property appraisal done last week, and the conservative estimate came in $25,000 higher than I've been factoring. I am both overjoyed, and overwhelmed, to be here. Can I actually manage to graduate out of this tier of the race? I guess we're going to find out!

Missed the mid year check in. Might as well hit it now, as things will probably change dramatically in the new year anyway.

Assets

Primary Residence Value - $175,000
Commercial Property Value - $55,000
Vacant Property - $15,000
Newest Real Estate Deal - $75,000 (value increasing as assets are secured)
Retirement Assets - $47,000
Cash Assets - $128,000
Vehicular Assets - $25,000

Liabilities

Primary Mortgage - $135,000
Secondary Mortgage - $35,000

Net Worth - $350,000

It. Has. Been. INSANE.

As you can see, I pulled the value back out of my house and converted it to cash. The property deal is going well, if slowly, and I need the cash to get things done. At the moment I'm just considering the investment of cash spent on the assets at a 1:1 value with no consideration for "the total is greater than the sum of its parts; when the property is done and has been appraised I will update things to reflect its market value. Based on local comps... well I'm not going to get my hopes up yet but we may see a sizable boost by year end. Fingers crossed.

Hello stashers, I have arrived! I snuck in just before the doors closed.
I have only recently started aggregating and tracking my NW. This is invested assets only, I do not count my home equity ($45k) or my fine collection of dry pantry goods. I add in about $5200 monthly, inclusive of my company match, and exclusive of my / my employer's pension contributions. I will feel much more confident with another month under my belt if the market dips, that I would still be worthy of posting here :p

June 2018.  $219,320
July 2018. $228,483
Aug 2018 $234,711
Sept 2018 $245,993
Oct 2018.  $251,023

Broke the $400k mark in NW!  I was reviewing my spreadsheets and it absolutely blows me away that I was sitting with a negative net worth 4.5 years ago! No hand outs, just an eye opening read of MMM and some serious hard work and conscious decisions.

June 1, 2018 - $385,931
July 1, 2018 - $389,444
August 1, 2018 - $393,286
September 1, 2018 - $406,838       + $13,552 m/m

Bigger jump than normal for me as I got my annual pension update and found out I was under reporting for last year in my spreadsheets. Also had a bit of a raise Aug 1.
[/quote]

October 1, 2018 - $412,660      +5,821

Keep on moving closer...

I just cam by to see how long it's taken other people here to get from 250 to 500. Seems like the average is about 3-4 years?

I think I hit 250 somewhere around mid-2016. Took a year sabbatical away from work last year. I think we'll hit 500 sometime mid to late next year. So 3 years with not working one of those year.

I keep going back and forth on how much longer I want to work for money. There are a few irons in the fire that might help me make my decision. Looking at an estimation chart going from 500k to 1.2mil take about 8-12 years which means I don't need to keep working in my current position. I want to find a job that I can travel with/ work abroad in. I think 500k before I'm 30 is enough to say that I should be finding work that I want to do instead of going to full FIRE.

I hope it stays down for at least another week - I get paid next week so my 401k contribution hits then, lol

If this trend continues for October, I値l be impressed if anyone in this group with the majority of their NW in stocks has a positive NW gain for the month!

I am in a very very similar position, just a tad behind. I should hit 500k when I知 just shy of 32, I知 30 now. I took an 8 month sabbatical between late 2016 and 2017 and it was a real eye opener/life changer. Our fire number is also a bit higher - probably around 2 mil.

Like you - once we池e around 500k-700k I plan to cut back to only working 3-4 months a year while the Stache grows. After we do that for a while, we値l have a better idea if we want to keep doing that for 10-15 years, or I値l be able to pretty easily go back to work full time and probably be fully FIRE by 40ish or so.

Agreed.  I would have to have put in about 60K this month in order to be up.

@Jaayse, like I just kept the shirt and shoes on like some kind of...fancy man? Yeah right, that's what I did.

@GUNDERSON, rivalry? rivalry? The Packers and Bears are a rivalry, my friend, not this nonsense. And yeah my allocation is steady. It's smooth and steady and beautiful, and I'm not ashamed to admit it to any of you people!

(I am really trying to channel Nick here, I feel like I did it)

I feel similarly - this is the first significant decline since I really started investing and I feel rather detached from the numbers, mostly hoping it doesn't immediately bounce back up because I'm still relatively early in my accumulation phase.

If I was desperate to retire soon, I may feel differently? Hard to say..

Detached! That was the word I was looking for earlier. That's exactly how I feel. Because like you, I'm early in the accumulation phase. So... ***shrug*** Market will do what the market does. In the mean time, I'll just keep sticking money in.

(I skipped Oct, as we went from middle-of-the month reporting in Sept to first-of-the-month accounting for Nov)

And I am not leaving. I have come too far. I am squatting here, like some sort of...squatter. We should pop back up over $250K come Dec 1st unless the market drops another 3-4% in Nov.

my Transamerica account won't sync with Mint the last month or so. I consider it good timing, because to check in now is much harder, and I'd rather not know! Today it wouldn't even send me the security code to get in online, so I'm giving up. Will do them both next month!

Oct 1, 2018 - $296,603
Nov 1, 2018 - $288,618

All things considered - not terrible. I spent $1k more than my goal which sucks. Stock market dropped a lot, but I still saved $11k-$12k so that痴 what I need to be looking at.

I usually keep a good sized emergency fund, but I致e been slowly dumping extra into the market this month.

I became eligible for an HSA today and will max it out ($6900) this month, and then also have it set up to max out for Jan/Feb of 2019. I知 also right on the cusp of being able to contribute to a regular (non-backdoor) Roth IRA for the year, so as soon as I do my taxes I値l get that info before I file them. I will most definitely be able to contribute next year, so plan on making those early in the year as well.

Well, I don't hold out any hope of hitting 400k before the end of the year now, and it does not help that I've been doing a lot of travel.  However, the travel is amazing and I have an opportunity to cheaply travel Europe, so I'm taking advantage of it anyways.

My (admittedly aggressive) index fund investments all got slammed.  But since I'm a buyer at this stage, the downturn is a good thing.  Only wish I had more cash to invest right now.  Hoping the market goes down (or at least stays about where it is) until I get my 401k match and annual bonus in January.

Lost about 6% this month and am back to mid July levels. How far back in time did you go? The hardest part about the minor sale is the fact that we have never had a tighter cash flow. I actually had to cash in some stock just before the downturn thanks to unexpected education costs (turns out public school doesn't work for everyone and my ideal dreams about public education are smashed)

I haven't had a completely negative month since I started tracking in 2015. I guess that's good news, as i'm growing and gaining more investments that can start making bigger differences than paycheques.

Oof, rough month. In addition to the market being shitty, our company stock crept up to an all-time high last month, and it's since fallen back to more moderate prices. However, our earnings call this week beat expectations, so it should trend back up!

If this trend continues for October, I値l be impressed if anyone in this group with the majority of their NW in stocks has a positive NW gain for the month!

This. I don't understand how so many people continue to show positive gains during a market dip if their investment strategy relies on index funds.

Because many of us are still in the accumulation phase, so we keep putting money into the market, even during dips.  So the market may dip, but net worth still increases due to savings from income.

Some people have crazy high incomes here.....actually most of the folks on the forum are self selected upper middle/upper class households with dual incomes.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
