It's been a few months since I've updated here - we've been spending pretty aggressively and haven't been able to ramp up our investments as we'd originally hoped to earlier this year. We were super surprised to login to investments to see we somehow reached the goal with the ongoing auto-savings we have going on in the background (and I assume the stock market must be rebounding but I haven't been paying attention). I'll hang around here for a month or so to see if it sticks.

My starting point was May 2020 with 56k€. I don't have data before that, I remember at some point in 2019 I had 34k€.
I've discovered Mustachianism in 2017 and immediately reduced my spendings. I started investing in 2019 I think.

Thanks to a stroke of luck, we graduated the last thread right at the turn of the year. I'm really inspired to see the wonderful account balances you all have. We started with stock-market investing in 2020. Before that, we had cash, life insurance, gold and silver, and CDs. We started, because I read an article about robo-advisors. Another month of significant growth. In a couple months I might see a bit of a slump as my side gig has grown quite substantially this year and I'll be owing substantial taxes. Since the side gig was just a small supplement to my income in the past, I never bothered subtracting taxes owed when calculating my net worth, but this won't be a problem moving forward as I will have to start paying instalments.

Hard to believe it has been two years since my last post. I could graduate this year, but it will likely still be 2025 as I am now contributing as a IRA and not 401k. I am getting close to FI, but might not be too much FIRE at 53 years old. I believe I could technically make FIRE 58 at the latest. I am tracking only 401k (now IRA) here and have other investments of $200k. I am happy with my work so no real incentive. I am extremely blessed to have gotten a new job that doubled my salary this year (so far), and am now fighting lifestyle creep.
