Thanks, @alcon835! I know it's not always going to be this fast of a climb, but it's been a pretty wild ride so far!

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215
Dec2019 — $122692
Jan2020 — $120521
Feb2020 — $123625
Mar2020 — $124248
Apr2020 — $133240
May2020 — $145475
Jun2020 — $143581
Jul2020 — $151652
Aug2020 — $155546
Sep2020 — $149687 (losses this month)
Oct2020 — $161159 (gains this month)

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.  The increase seen here may vanish as some already was wiped away with last week’s decline. Just gotta remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.  I already reached my “temp check” of getting to $150k by the end of 2020.   So I’m happy about that.

Oops: I forgot to post for a few months. Here’s my updates...

July 1: $94,885
August 1: $99,157
September 1: $96,161
October 1: $92,650
November 1: $94,512
November 28: $104,403.57

Just made it to this thread! I started my MMM journey in 2017 with a NW of $11,000. I've averaged about $60k per year over the last three years. Less this year, due to Covid-related loss of commission, layoff, and starting a new job. The silver lining of this year was increased savings due to lowered spending during quarantine.
Everyone says the first 100k is the hardest, so I'm looking forward to the easy glide to $250k :)

I am using this challenge for my retirement savings.

--------------------
12/31/16     107k
12/31/17     137k
12/31/18     110k
12/31/19     204k
-------------------
03/31/20     170k
06/30/20     220k
09/01/20    252k
10/01/20  247.7k

11/30/20   278k

The last two months' contributions and the market upswing took the retirement account balances to $250k+ again.

took longer than I would have liked but had a few expenses like buying a car, buying a house, etc.  Still I'm pleased and 250 to 500 I'm ready to double down LOL

These numbers are counting pretty much everything: cash, credit cards, student loans, investment accounts, retirement accounts, home equity, & cars.

I am loving the tailwind of having compound interest work in my favor (and a crazy housing/stock market). My house is under contract is supposed to close this month which should improve my numbers a bit more. My wife recently started working part time again, and I am expecting to pass the CPA exam this month, so hopefully I can continue making progress. It looks like it took about 4 years to increase my net worth by $150k, hopefully the next $150k is even faster.

A fantastic month mostly thanks to the market and everything kicking into gear. Building some advance on my targets and got my contract extended. I should be able to relax a little over the holidays. Expenses down which is great. Onwards and upwards.

Note: all numbers are from the 1st of the month. Only tracking investments, no savings, assets, etc.

Year-to-date change: (+$100,175) [+99.61%]

November was bonkers, y'all. Not only did the market jump significantly, but DW and I are now aggressively contributing to some taxable investment accounts. On top of that, I had a big jump when two months of 401K contributions all hit at the same time (there was a lag due to a change in paystub software....).

all-in-all, it turned into a ridiculously good month! And I've broken 200K! I'm not sure if it'll hold or not; everything depends on what the FDA decides in a few weeks. I imagine good news from them will come with another major bump to the market.

Hi everyone, just graduated so popping over here.

Started this year on the race to 10k thread to start investing into S&S ISAs. Once I graduated there I moved to race to 100k and from then counted my pensions, investments accounts and shares - just money for FIRE basically. I don't include home value and cash etc

250k sounds pretty scary but I'm excited for the challenge

01/07/2020 - £75,523.86
01/08/2020 - £76,466.46

Hi all! Finally joining this thread after spending a few years in the 10K to 100K thread. Here's my history from that thread:

9/29/17 - $11,511
6/30/18 - $36,000
1/31/19 - $53,028
6/30/2019 - $75,757
12/31/2019 - $96,225
1/31/2020 - $96,048
2/29/2020 - $94,556
3/31/2020 - $92,438
4/30/2020 - $101,897

This was previously just my personal net worth, however with the graduation I've decided to move to household net worth, so Mrs. Fiction gets to join the fun too. It makes too much sense at this point, given how intertwined our finances have become.

Background - I'm 35 and my wife is 31. DD is two and we have another on the way this summer. Looking to buy a house around this time next year.

Total joint net worth as of 4/30/2020 is $203,198. We are debt-free outside of whatever is on our credit cards, which always get paid each month.

With some market cooperation, some inspiration and some hard work (and some luck!) We just might be able to graduate this thread by the end of the year.

Looking forward to following along with everyone's progress!

New Joint Tracker

4/30/2020 -       101,897        203,198

6/30/2020 -       114,288        227,585
7/31/2020 -       117,338        236,196
8/31/2020 -       128,213        251,254
9/30/2020 -       125,543        246,779
10/31/2020 -     130,200        251,727
11/30/2020 -  141,260       266,097

That's more like it. Probably time to move on.

See ya'll soon in the next thread.

12/1/2020   $152,706.85  (+$15849.77 or +11.58%)

Huge month.  Some of it had to do with the way that some of the contributions fell last month (contributions from the last paycheck in October didn't hit the accounts until a few days in November after I'd already run October's numbers).  And there was a small bonus ($1200).  I'm most excited about the fact that my retirement accounts, finally crossed the $100k mark and then some.

End of Month Balance
7/2020: $107,142
8/2020: $117,360
9/2020: $116.8K
10/2020: $117.5K
11/2020: $133.8K

$16K or 13.9% increase since last month. Contributed a normal amount, but the rest was market gain after a couple slow months.

For context: I'm 31 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

Great uptick for me this month, along with the fact that I once again have a job! Downside is that I'm not eligible for my company's 401k until the start of my 7th month at the company...but hopefully I can use that extra cash to quickly max out my roth IRA, then possibly dump some of it into a new investment account, or keep it for a house downpayment, we will see!

Just graduated from this challenge, a month earlier than I expected!  (Thank you market gains!)  Looks like I'm in good company!

I started in June 2019 with $111,550 (up from $95,651 the month prior) and am graduating with $252,566 as of the end of November.

I looked back - it took me 27 months to go from -$82,000 to zero, then 21 months for my first $100,000, and now 18 months for another $150,000.  Pretty cool to see the power of compound interest/gains in action, though $40,000 of the most recent gains are from receiving more shares plus vesting of previous shares in my company's ESOP program.

30m and 33f, married with joint finances. All figures are in retirement accounts and cash. Not reflective of net worth since we have a lot of student loan debt that will hopefully be forgiven under PSLF in the future. Apart from cash, rest is in equities (total market and large cap US mostly, with a small % in individual stocks). Have followed this thread and happy to join in on the fun.

Graduation time!  My goal was to hit 250K invested in 2020 and I made it with a month left over.  Lots of help from the markets here, as my savings rate in 2020 was less that I'd forecast needing.  It took 1 year and 10 months to push from 100K to 250K.

I'll be working to hit the 500K mark sometime in 2022.  Hope to see you all in the next thread!

I love the shorter and shorter amount of time to make milestones.  Well, done!!!

Update #6 (tracking 401k only)    It looks like I will stay in the group for 2020.  I am fine with staying around for a bit, but will join the $250-500k group once I am $20-40k above the $250k mark.  No need to flip back and forth when market fluctuations come along.
                                 401k
Nov. 12, 2019         $238,035.96
Dec.   3, 2019         $240,880.64
Jan.   1, 2020          $249,417.11
Feb. 11, 2020          $257,961.03
Oct.  13, 2020         $277,374.19
Dec.   3, 2020         $296,200.72

So, I am $46k above the $250k mark, so I will graduate.  I will post a year end balance in this group and then move over to the Race $250-$500k.  Look forward to seeing you all there.  You all inspire me to do more of what got me here: Earn, Save, Budget, Life Hack, etc.  May you all be blessed with continued successes in 2020 and 2021.

07/17/2020: $103,981.86 (+$0.00)
07/31/2020: $106,885.86 (+$2,904.00)
08/17/2020: $111,111.20 (+$4,225.34.00)
08/31/2020: $112,706.75 (+$1,595.55)

12/04/2020: $126,995.87 (+$9,725.45)

I didn't update my balance again last paycheck. I'm finally settling into the new place, renter is in place and timely (!!) paying rent (she's awesome), and I don't need any more immediate work on the house, so we can cash flow a bit.

I learned a lesson re: selecting contractors though, and ended up paying for it both in time, money, and energy. Lesson learned, and I can happily move on from it without too much grief.

I'm trying to break down my race into smaller goals.
Q4 2020: $130k
Q1 2021: $145k
Q2 2021: $160k
Q3 2021: $175k
Q4 2021: $200k
Q1 2022: $215k
Q2 2022: $230k
Q3 2022: $250k.

This assumes steady growth rather than increased growth, which is fairly conservative. My NW grew by about 50k this year so it's not absurd to hope for 70k next year.

Projected Graduation date: December 2022

Prior Progress: Race from 10 to 100k!

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $101953
Aug2019 — $106277
Sep2019 — $111050
Oct2019 — $114791
Nov2019 — $120215
Dec2019 — $122692
Jan2020 — $120521
Feb2020 — $123625
Mar2020 — $124248
Apr2020 — $133240
May2020 — $145475
Jun2020 — $143581
Jul2020 — $151652
Aug2020 — $155546
Sep2020 — $149687
Oct2020 — $161159
Nov2020 — $182840

Numbers updated thru the last day of the month.  I already reached my “temp check” of getting to $150k by the end of 2020.   So I’m happy about that.  But the numbers seem to far exceed where I thought I’d be.  I suppose that happens with over 35% gains this year.  While I expected to be at $150k by 31Dec, I’m currently sitting around $190k  I am about to consider tossing the hat in the safety columns for the remainder of the year, but there really isn’t a lot of bad news on the horizon aside from COVID number increases.  With vaccine news, election news and Tesla moving the the S&P, I don’t see a true reason to push pause for the rest of the year.

Hopefully the numbers by the end of December are good as well.
