Hey all, just graduated from the 10-100 race.  A little background, I found MMM ~5 years ago, had basically zero net worth, took a year to get to 10k, 2 more to get to 50k, then from 50-100 in another 2.

Sept 1 - 101.6k

I’m projecting 4 years, hopefully a bit less, but it all depends how work/unforeseen expenses/market conditions are like.

Slight drop this month mainly due to a massive legal bill.  250k by year end is still well within my sights though.

Felt like bringing in the top level history:

Oct-12: $0.00
Nov-12: $432.15
Dec-12: $1192.8
Jan-13: $1542.90
Jan-14: $7286.11
Jan-15: $16985.5
Jan-16: $26770.16
Jan-17: $58399.77
Jan-18: $95469.77
Feb-18: 111724.81
Mar-18: $112878.91
Apr-18: $117425.35
May-18: $123001.77
Jun-18: $125427.65
Jul-18: $135341.45
Aug-18: $138059.7
Sep-18: $142216.90
Oct-18: $152616
Nov-18: $145926
Dec-18: $150084
Jan-19: $142749
Feb-19: $159520
Mar-19: $168002
Apr-19: $176343
May-19: $184512
Jun-19: $181480
Jul-19: $197044

Aug-19: $204485 = $192056 Investments + $12429 HSA

Another solid month, initial goal was $200k by year end but just with contributions and a flat market I should reach $225k at the least. This has turned into a race to ~$450k now based on some changes in our plans so the faster we go the closer that slow traveling nirvana gets.

Opened up a VG account this month but also cashed out some $$ from my taxable account (about $1200) for travel.

Sep-19: $204404 = $191599 + $500 VG + $12305 HSA

For context: I'm 30 in a HCOL city. I'm married, but these are my own numbers since we keep our finances separate. Includes cash, retirement, and credit cards, which are used for normal expenses and paid off in full every month.

3/18: $48,533.91 (found MMM and started tracking)
3/19: $83,762.93
8/19: $101,572.33 (graduated to this thread)
9/19: $104,368.69 (+2,796.36, +2.75%)

It was a three paycheck month, so I'm still up despite a slightly lower/flat market this month. Glad I got to shovel in three paycheck's worth of VTSAX purchases!

9/2019  $159,828          $1500        $26,345

This looks like a really good month due to unexpected windfall (which we are throwing at index funds), but will not happen again. Otherwise it was a spendy month, and I'm worried about September.  I am getting married and starting a new job, so hoping that these two stressors don't cause me to anxiety shop. Or, if I do, I have the control to re-set in the next two months as life calms down.

I negotiated an early raise with my employer that went into effect at the beginning of August that is helping the projections slightly. With that extra $, I set up payroll deductions for my HSA account that is helping even more!

Early meaning a midyear performance raise vs during the normal review cycle? That's awesome on any case, Fu money at work.

Investments/cash:

6/30/19: $106,071
7/31/19: $112,395
8/31/19: $116,527 (+ 4132)

We flipped the switch to try maxing our 401Ks the rest of the year since both DH and I have raises coming to us and we'll still have our e-fund taken care of this year. But it looks like my contributions lag in when they are deposited so this month looks a little lower than it should be. Should see it all settle out next month, however.

I’m jumping in this thread with a few ideas and thoughts in mind. I don’t plan to add house equity or extras like that. I’m not even going to add the spouse’s 401k. I’ll be solely tracking
My 401k and my Roth IRA Numbers to go toward the goal of $250k. I may add the savings account numbers later, but most of that pays toward the last of my mortgage and a basement remodel right now.

My stats:

Jul2019 — $102000
Aug2019 — $106277

Goal of $250,000 by Oct of 2020.

Jan 1/16 - $105,809.20
Apr 1/16 - $108,749.60
Jul 1/16 - $117,155.44
Oct 1/16 - $118,878.00
Jan 1/17 - $126,041.95
Apr 1/17 - $138,777.41
Jul 1/17 - $144,570.34
Oct 1/17 - $152,266.77
Jan 1/18 - $164,613.88
Apr 1/18 - $174,725.03
July 1/18 - $188,096.17
Oct 1/18 - $191,853.58
Jan 1/19 - $183,804.03
Feb 1/19 - $192,428.69
Mar 1/19 - $197,862.10
Apr 1/19 - $204,808.88
May 1/19 - $208,362.35
Jun 1/19 - $201,804.03
July 1/19 - $208,148.78
Aug 1/19 - $207,281.37

Sept 1/19 - $208,499.76

Going no-where fast... back to where I was in May.

Anyway, I changed my graduation date from this month to Oct of next year.  Projections show me getting close around that time

I'm still diverting money to pay off credit cards (been doing that since June)... hopefully they'll be paid off by the end of this month (although looking at my SO's credit card statement, it's not likely).

My SO is starting a new job next week (one day for 3 hours a week), so that should help with some cash-flow problems.

Also, my main RRSP's are being voted on to change the indexes they track (eg. - instead of tracking the S&P500 index, they want to track some unknown in-house index that is 'similar' without having to specifically name it - they want to do this with all my index funds).  The vote is at the end of the month.  I voted 'no' to the changes.  If the vote goes through I will be switching companies and/or funds.

Hey all, just graduated from the 10-100 race.  A little background, I found MMM ~5 years ago, had basically zero net worth, took a year to get to 10k, 2 more to get to 50k, then from 50-100 in another 2.

Sept 1 - 101.6k

Hey, great to see you here! Up for another race? :)

I am tracking only IRA/401K/taxable accounts.
5/31/2018 $100,519.07  - not even the slightest clue on target date...I'll be here for a few years :)
6/30/2018 $105,187.34
7/31/2018 $109,052.07
8/31/2018 $116,748.06
9/31/2018 $125.833.33 (should slow down for rest of year as both 401Ks are maxed)
10/31/2018 $121,400.49 (market pain)
11/30/2018 $120,116/63
12/31/2018 $115,318.38 (more market pain and put some resources towards our new AirBnB venture - looking forward to buying stocks on sale now that 401K is back in play)
1/31/2019 $121,188.34 (next couple of months are my favorite time of year - 401K is in play, bonus and employer 401K match (3% of compensation) all hit)
2/28/2019 $136,880.76 (one twomore fun months, then back to slow(er) growth mode)
3/31/2019 $141,195.30 (one more fun month - employer 401k contribution and last month until max 401k for the year)
4/30/2019 $161,209.95 (going to try to continue speed with taxable account - we will see with a 2-week old at home how this plays out)
5/31/2019 $157,215.34 (market pain decline despite adding close to $4,000 in my after-tax account.....stay the course)
6/30/2019 $168,401.72 ($63,214.38 in one year...stay the course)
7/31/2019 $172,680.44
8/31/2019 $169,675.29

About to free up a significant amount of monthly cash by consolidating student loans, existing HELOC and car loan (facepunch....) into a fixed-rate HELOC and spreading them out over a longer period of time at a lower rate.  Thanks significantly appreciating housing market!

I will use some of that to accelerate paying down HELOC amount and some to throw into investments and anticipate having an extra $1,500/month to add to the amounts reflected in this race.

Onward!

These are investments only between me and my wife`s 401ks, Traditional IRAs, taxable brokerage, and Money Market accounts:

April 13, 2019 = $100,325.68
May 19, 2019 = $104,598.06
June 29, 2019 = $116,258.11
July 28, 2019 = $125,262.57
August 24, 2019 = $125,496.17
September 8, 2019 = $135,203.65(Had a great recovery and a nice chunk added over the last couple of weeks)

We`ve done a little diversification this week. Put $8,000 into a high yield(2.4%) savings account and we`re keeping $3,000 in our checking account for immediate emergencies. Decided to put down $3,000 each into VBTLX(bonds) and VGSLX(real estate). We`ll probably put most of everything else into VTSAX and maybe some into VBIAX(a little more cushion) for the rest of the year. I had a seemingly outrageous goal at the beginning of this year for us to break 150K at the end of this year, and God-willing, it may possibly actually happen!

Up to $247,500 now?   Hurray? Things have been real spendy lately for me, although I'm afraid the spending has only just begun.  I definitely need to re-examine my income stream lately as it hasn't changed substantially in the fast few years.

Onward and up and down and up and down and upward!

Hi gang! Today I graduated to the $100k thread :) I'm gonna come hang out with y'allf or a few years, if you'll have me.

(Tomorrow rent comes out of my checking account and I temporarily ungraduate. But who's counting?)
We are at $113k today. The market pullback has been good to us. (Stocks are on sale!)
We're at $130k right now and on track for $150 at year end. Maybe we can graduate next December if all goes well. (If all does not go well, the Buffett family buys more hamburger when hamburger is on sale, and will not cry.)

Bit late... but hey it's still September. Honestly I expected worse this month, I haven't really been careful with my money. Still, pretty nice month! I hardly ever make any big jumps, just 1-2k a month with 2 2.5k bonuses a year. So I'm going to be here a while and hope for windfalls!

Who  has captured the spreadsheet and is controlling it now?

Still no resolution, I sure hope we don't have to start over from scratch.

I believe @tarheeldan is the keeper of the gate and has helped in this regard before.  I've sent the Tarred Heel Signal.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE

03/01/18: $100,871
04/01/18: $104,410
05/01/18: $109,333
06/01/18: $111,851
07/01/18: $115,134
08/01/18: $118,949
09/01/18: $121,714
10/01/18: $123,222
11/01/18: $123,710
12/01/18: $132,287
01/01/19: $130,778
02/01/19: $142,434
03/01/19: $147,794
04/01/19: $164,175
05/01/19: $171,260
06/01/19: $170,858
07/01/19: $178,164 ($7,306 gain)
08/01/19: $183,917 ($5,753 gain)
09/01/19: $187,578 ($3,661 gain)
10/01/19: $193,112 ($5,533 gain)

With the new house purchases behind us, we are now back on track. Fortunately, the new house expenses weren’t  reflected in our net worth, as we made more than expected from our old house sale. The majority of this months gain cane from new contributions, with the market contributing ~1k.

I expect October to be a great month, with a massive amount of overtime and ESP shares making their quarterly deposit. Pending any market turmoil, I hope to cross 200k this month 🤞.

Hi all! Not sure why the sharing settings might have changed. I thought it was weird I was getting those access requests. Anyway, it should be editable by anyone with the link again.

Oct-19: September is always a great month as bonus gets added to the stashe. This was a very good year but bonus wasn't as amazing as I had thought, still happy of course as it is still a variable pay that I am thankful for regardless. Rest of the year will slow down as I only have a little bit of pre-tax 401k room left and will then shift to after tax 401k fully. ESPP and HSA contributions will continue as is. All in all I'm expecting to contribute about $3.5-$4k per month so might not make graduation until February or so.

Oct-19: $225122
