First number is retirement savings, second is total NW including cash emergency savings and real estate equity.

January 2015: $98,619

January 2016: $101,235
December 2016: $140,779 (total NW $269,089)

January 2017: $151,307 (total NW $276,052)
December 2017: $193,677 (total NW $364,276)

January 2018: $203,876
December 2018: $194,973 (total NW $367,535)

January 2019: $210,742 (total NW $375,622)
February 2019: $220,342 (total NW $390,613)
March 2019: $222,125 (total NW $391,337)

The total NW is over $250k but I'm focused on retirement only for this challenge. A good chunk of the NW is real estate equity.

Quarter StockBondCash  +House
Q3 2016:  $112,200     $165,800
Q4 2016:  $124,300     $178,500
Q1 2017:  $148,300     $203,300
Q2 2017:  $160,548     $217,018
Q3 2017:  $178,042     $235,102
Q4 2017:  $203,082     $260,736
Q1 2018:  $213,941     $272,491
Q2 2018:  $223,802     $283,554
Q3 2018:  $235,666     $296,330
Q4 2018:  $229,947     $291,293
Q1 2019:  $284,421     $346,689

After our first quarterly loss ever recorded, we had a YUGE gain in Q1 2019, more than doubling the largest quarterly gain previously recorded. Let that be a lesson to you kids: if you barely have any money, you win bigly when stocks go down, and then you win even biglyer when they go back up. If this had been 2008 everything would have worked out the same (marketwise), but increased by a factor of three.

Anyhoo I must be traveling on, now, Cause there's too many places I've got to see

Mar-19: Another solid month in the markets: $159,074.12 investments + $8928.66 HSA = $168002.78

I love these market gains :-) $176343 total, will add the detail later.

Detail: $176343 = $9434 HSA + $166908 in investments (Taxable + Roth IRA + 401k)

$43,153 - Jan 2016
$67,328 - Jan 2017
$119,626 - Jan 2018

$122,335 - Jan 2019
$123,106 - Feb 2019
$133,183 - Mar 2019
$140,212 - Apr 2019

I haven’t updated in a few months yet least, but am back on track.  Late 2018 had some bad times for me in the market and some less-than-necessary expenditures.  I work rotationally, so it’ll slow down/stall again in a couple months but will stay green overall.

Great month driven by a large tax return. Market gains contributed about 3.5k to this as well. I expect progress to slow down now until work get busy again in the fall. My short term goal is to hit the halfway mark of this race ($175k) by the end of June.

Hey guys.  I'm a recent graduate of the 10k-100k thread - excited to be here!  I'm only tracking investments and cash (but since I'm a renter that's pretty much everything anyway).
Personal details: married with three kids, single income household.  Hoping to graduate sometime in 2021.

2019 Goal = $135k (Invested Total) & $222K (Total NW)
2019 Stretch Goal = $160k (Invested Total) & $250k (Total NW)

I do not plan to leave this race until the Invested Total is above $250k (Prediction = Jan 2022 or 4 year from start).

Code: [Select]
Month End 401K        IRA Invested Total Home Value Rental Value Debt         Total NW

Dec-18 $103,098 $3,861 $106,959 $240,000 $125,000 $296,155 $175,804
Jan-19 $110,710 $4,151 $114,861 $240,000 $125,000 $313,885* $165,976
Feb-19 $116,005 $4,295 $120,300 $240,000 $125,000 $309,693 $175,607
Mar-19 $119,846 $4,333 $124,179 $240,000 $125,000 $302,998 $186,181

*I added $18k-19k of debt for the rental that I had not been tracking.  I realized that if I was going to count the rental equity & mortgage, I probably should count the other rental debt too.

Debt should drop another $7k this month and if plans work, we should be able to get a little bit of a 2018 contribution into the IRA before the 15th and start to work towards maxing it out for 2019!

Tally-Ho!

I don't count my house equity, so this is just investments minus loans (I invest instead of paying off my low interest loans).

I am tracking only IRA/401K/taxable accounts.
5/31/2018 $100,519.07  - not even the slightest clue on target date...I'll be here for a few years :)
6/30/2018 $105.187.34
7/31/2018 $109,052.07
8/31/2018 $116,748.06
9/31/2018 $125.833.33 (should slow down for rest of year as both 401Ks are maxed)
10/31/2018 $121,400.49 (market pain)
11/30/2018 $120,116/63
12/31/2018 $115,318.38 (more market pain and put some resources towards our new AirBnB venture - looking forward to buying stocks on sale now that 401K is back in play)
1/31/2019 $121,188.34 (next couple of months are my favorite time of year - 401K is in play, bonus and employer 401K match (3% of compensation) all hit)
2/28/2019 $136,880.76 (one twomore fun months, then back to slow(er) growth mode)
3/31/2019 $141,195.30 (one more fun month - employer 401k contribution and last month until max 401k for the year)

Still going in the right direction.  Tax disbursement came over the weekend so I'll have extra to contribute in April.  Can't complain about 2019 so far, at least savings wise.  I don't know what I'm going to do when/if I hit 250K soon, but I imagine I'm going to linger around here for a bit to really solidify things before the jump (no jinx).

Not entirely sure how I gained ~$10k this month, but I'll take it.  On another note, it looks like my 401k + IRAs has finally caught up to my taxable investments.  Will be switching over to taxable soon though since my 401k + IRA is nearly maxed for the year.

I am right there with you.  It took me right around 11 years for the 1st $100k (invested), thankfully priorities have changed.  I would love to get the 2nd $100k invested in 3 years but the 1st year of that was 2018 which, for me at least, was basically flat.  My spreadsheet predictions say I will make it in just under 3 years but if I use the last 15 months to predict out, it will take 5 years to get that 2nd $100k invested.

Congrats on the 2nd $100k!

Took me a little over 10 years to get the first $100,000 and a little over three years for the 2nd!

I would guess well under 2 years based on compounding etc, just amazing to see the effect of good savings habits and how powerful they are when compounding comes into play.

Month.         Net Worth          Change    Overall Change
11/2018      $225,507
12/2018      $227,128       1,621
01/2019      $229,245       2,117       3,738
02/2019      $231,788       2,543       6,281
03/2019      $240,339       8,551      14,832

Not going as fast as I hoped, but also paid over $16,000 in cash for irregular expenses during this time, so could be worse.  (~$5,000 from HSA for DS braces, ~$5,000 for outbuildings for homestead infrastructure, ~$5,000 for a new-to-us vehicle, rest was unexpected travel to attend family funeral.)

March recap: Another strong month on the investments front. Added to a few things, minimized expenses, 1 or 2 life changing experiences, and pursuing a promotion at work that would come with a very nice pay raise while continuing to plug away at grad school. Took on another big project at work, where I'm actually on the project as the voice of reason and (I think) to help mold/develop an ambitious cohort who means well as he moves towards a different but parallel career track to myself, and my bosses know that I may not see it through to completion pending the promotion but it is still good to be valued.

Basement project wrapped up, and the half that is done is beautiful. We are thrilled with it, but now me and my wife need to find some nonexistent free time to paint before we can start moving furniture back down there and more nonexistent free time to clean out the last of the clutter and finish the master bedroom upstairs.

Made too much to contribute to the Roth this year, and with another tuition bill coming soon, I need to stay more liquid, so not contributing as much as I'd like this year into that. But hopefully this will be the last year of that if I get the promotion since I really don't plan to add to my spending, and we're talking 20-25% bump if I get it.

Thought of the month - if only sleep was like money where the more you invested in, the more you got without having to do anything...

December 2014: $89,173 (I don't have the exact date I hit 100K, so including this here anyway)
December 2015: $106,299
December 2016: $147,449
December 2017: $182,600
December 2018: $219,103
January 2019: $224,363
February 2019: $229,741
March 2019: $235,165

My annual bonus pushed me over the $100k limit, though I plan on buying a place for my mom to live in the next few months so won't be here for long.  Ducking in now to savor it!

I don't know when we'll get to $250,000 because my husband just lost his job and wants to adjunct for a bit for the experience before applying to tenure track jobs but we just passed $100,000 so I want to join.  Slow but steady for me right now.
We just passed $200,000 in March of this year.  DH got titled position in September of 2019 (and I did not work for six months).  DH just got an offer for a tenure track position but we are moving AGAIN which costs money. BUT hopefully we can hit $250,000 soon!
