Brand new to this forum, but I've been reading MMM since I started my first "real job" in late 2014. Really excited to jump in here for some motivation!

Summary of finances so far:
01/2014: $1.5k
07/2014: $4k
01/2015: $15.3k
07/2015: $28.4k
01/2016: $54.8k
07/2016: $69.5k
01/2017: $89.7k
07/2017: $102.5k (hooray!)
01/2018: $136.8k (bought a house with equity baked in)
02/2018: $151.1k
03/2018: $155.4k
04/2018: $160.0k
05/2018: $169.8k (company finally got 401(k) last month, so I'm able to save a lot more. And 3 paychecks doesn't hurt.)

I can't wait until that 200,000 milestone.

Marketable securities:

12/15 ~    $81,000
12/16 ~  $109,000
12/17 ~  $164,000
01/18 ~  $174,000
02/18 ~  $172,000
03/18 ~  $175,000
04/18 ~  $180,000

Put up a post on my site with a little more detail, but it looks like investments were a little bit of a tailwind this month (I'm overweight ex-us and they were up like 2% in dollar terms).  Nice to get some positive movement.  Ten year wedding anniversary is coming up though...that's going to leave a mark.

My family just hit 250k in investments this weekend. After a rapid run up last year it seemed like we were going to easily hit the mark around March after some extra cash was scheduled to be free. Because of the market correction, it took a couple months longer than we anticipated. While it definitely feels like we have made progress over the last few years since we started this journey, I still feel we have a long way to go before getting to our destination.

Jan 2016      $80,165.78
Mar 2016     $101,768.81
May 2016     $106,529.21
July 2016     $115,035.02
Sept 2016    $126,076.92
Nov 2016     $135,152.36
Jan 2017      $147,729.69
Mar 2017     $140,835.79 (moving expenses set us back)
May 2017     $149,690.19
July 2017     $157,768.24
Sept 2017    $167,359.52
Nov 2017     $175,059.46
Jan 2018      $190,018.18
Feb 2018      $198,506.91
March 2018  $206,086.24
April 2018    $206,732.49
May 2018     $211,986.89

A good rebound after a flat prior month. Still, without the market gains of the last few years to count on, we're falling behind the pace we need to hit $250K by year's end.

You've increased your net worth by 11.6% since Jan. 1, in a relatively flat market.  If you increase at the same 11.6% (and that may not be fair depending on how steady your income is) you'd be near ~$236K at at the end of September.  Any uptick in the market probably gets you to $250K before 12/31.  Flat, you have an outside chance and if it's down you'd have to save quite a bit.

Yup! I have crunched numbers and concur!! I figure, I can only control what I can control, the savings and contributions, not the market performance. Like you said, even if things stay flat, we have a puncher's chance.

Is anyone else aiming to graduate sometime around the end of the year?

I'd like to find a person or two who are in the same "it's possible if we push it hard" camp.

@Nick Miller I've been trailing you for a while, you could challenge me! Though for me everything is automatic unless I can find more CC churning, bank account churning in order to increase my income. (No overtime at my work). Maybe taking it as a smaller 1-1 challenge will be more motivating than simply watching the end approach.

According to my spreadsheet, I should be able to make it to 250 by maintaining the course.

I have a very, very outside shot by 12/31, at least in terms of overall net worth (I still break out invested assets as that is what I'll need to draw on if/when I FIRE).  Market is up slightly = probably graduate by 12/31, market is flat = outside chance to graduate by 12/31, market is down = almost no chance to graduate by 12/31.

My year was front-loaded with higher-than-expected tax refund (due to prepaying property taxes in December), bonus hits in Q1, so I won't have any of those additional bumps in income the rest of the year.  Also going to have some wedding costs start hitting so I anticipate expenses to be a bit more than normal, though we're doing it pretty frugally and they'll be spread out.

I'm definitely in this camp - at roughly $178k right now, and from May to December of last year I increased about $70k with a lot of help from the market. This year, who knows about the market but I've increased my savings rate...

Let's do this!

@Canadian Ben , you're at $213K?  Game on, my friend!

(I was going to say "suck it!" but that seems extreme for the beginning of the contest)

Column 1: investments (retirement + otherwise):

 7/17/17    $182,905   $301,487
 8/17/17    $184,943   $301,381
 9/17/17    $191,576   $308,692
10/17/17   $197,557   $314,090
11/17/17   $201,230   $315,249
12/17/17   $210,178   $328,245
1/17/18     $225,531   $340,364

5/17/18     $230,609   $349,921

Finally making good moves. Some of it market, but most of it tax refund. Can't believe investments (and net worth) increased ~$50K in 10 months!
On target to graduate this thread by the end of the year.

I can't find my last post in here as I fell off the radar a bit, but I'm game for the race to graduation before the end of the year! Will be especially challenging since we'll have our first kid in mid-November and I'll go off work at the end of October or November... for more than a year. Good reason to save more aggressively now? :)

1/15: $199
2/15: $196
3/15: $204
4/15: $199 (big tax bill)
5/15: $206

Hey @moonpalace, I didn't mean to leave you out! You, me and @Canadian Ben are all racing to the goal by December 31st.

I don't want to brag, but I just sold three more copies of my zombie novel, so that's another $2.97 toward my goal!

Goal of $250,000 by Sept of 2019.

Jan 1/16 - $105,809.20
Apr 1/16 - $108,749.60
Jul 1/16 - $117,155.44
Oct 1/16 - $118,878.00
Jan 1/17 - $126,041.95
Apr 1/17 - $138,777.41
Jul 1/17 - $144,570.34
Oct 1/17 - $152,266.77
Jan 1/18 - $164,613.88
Feb 1/18 - $165,721.03

May 1/18 - $180,806.91
June 1/18 - $186,975.44

A few days early, but whatever...

So much for my goal of $200,000 by June 1st.  Projecting out with my decreased amount being added each month, it looks like I'll hit 200K around October.

New stretch goal of $250,000 by Sept of 2019.

First number is retirement savings, second is total NW including cash emergency savings and real estate equity.

January 2015: $98,619

January 2016: $101,235
December 2016: $140,779 (total NW $269,089)

January 2017: $151,307 (total NW $276,052)
December 2017: $193,677 (total NW $364,276)

January 2018: $203,876
February 2018: $200,867 (total NW $382,740)
March 2018: $196,371 (total NW $393,470)
April 2018: $197,690 (total NW $397,029)
May 2018: $201,800 (total NW $372,420) hit with a special assessment at the condo

I know the total NW is over $250k but I'm focused on retirement only for this challenge. A good chunk of the NW is real estate equity.

Been a long time lurker, finally posting my numbers! I'm super excited about this milestone! This year has been crazy cause I got married in March. I haven't even looked at personal capital for a long time...

Here it goes:
Jan 2017: 115,000
Apr 2017: 119,500
Jul 2017: 148,000
Sep 2017: 154,000
Jan 2018: 161,000
Feb 2018: 181,000
Mar 2018: 170,000
Apr 2018: 176,000
May 2018: 194,300

I'll give you one guess as to when the wedding was :P

Looking at this, it looks like there are many points that jump around quite a bit. I can tie all these back to singular events (wedding, tax refund, etc) I didn't think it would jump around this much....

I was really hoping my June 1st paycheck would bump me over $100k in my TSP, but the market proved otherwise. Will update with June numbers in a couple days - I think I might graduate this thread now in July or August :)

Joining this thread - just graduated from the 10-100.  I am tracking only IRA/401K/taxable accounts.

5/31/2018 $100,519.07  - not even the slightest clue on target date...I'll be here for a few years :)

The result is our equity is increasing way faster than she realized)

Up $6,609.57 to $253,986.79. To think my net worth was $0 when I started my FT job in March of 2014. Thanks for the motivation guys! Looks like half of you will be joining me in the subsequent thread next month, and passing me up shortly thereafter :).

Including IRAs, 401(k), HSA, and Investment Account.
Jan 1, 2016 - $81,396
Aug 1, 2016 - $120,039
Oct 1, 2016 - $122,943
Jan 1, 2017 - $128,893
Mar 1, 2017 - $151,772
May 1, 2017 - $156,756
Aug 1, 2017 - $170,072
Sep 1, 2017 - $174,170
Oct 1, 2017 - $189,054  - moved $8K into Investment Account from Emergency Savings. While overall NW did not increase much, moving money around into respective accounts pushes the needle dramatically.
Nov 1, 2017 - $196,010 - yippee!! so close to $200K!
Dec 1, 2017 - $201,106 - nice! Crossed over to the $200k line. Let's hope I can stay for awhile. Still projecting Jan 2019 to hit $250k.
Jan 1, 2018 - $205,595.91
Feb 1, 2018 - $216,842.97
Mar 1, 2018 - $205,429.70 - Yikes, all my contributions and then some are gone.... Oh well, keep plugging away! Bonus hits this month, so I will hopefully see a bump.
Apr 1, 2018 - $214,541.70 - nice, climbing back up to Feb numbers.

May 1, 2018 - $218,916.00 - finally surpassed February's high! Still hoping to recover more of my contributions this year, as I seem to be missing some....... ha

June 1, 2018 - $220,322 - this is just market increases. I changed jobs and have 30 days to hold until 401k will start again. This also includes the $1500 loss of employer contributions I missed out for not staying until 100% vested. I'll take the loss any day to be away from that place.
