Very good month for me. I should easily cross over into the $30ks with my first December check and end the year 1/3 of the way to finishing this race.

Congrats to everyone that graduated this month, seems like it was a good month for a lot of people :)

I do not include my savings to buy expensive "fun items" like new cellphone, electronics etc. as it is not very big. My checking account is also not included as it has money I will likely spend this month. Goal for 2019 is to make it to $45K.

Net worth:
Dec2017:$7800
Apr2018:$13,200
Aug2018:$22,800
Sep2018: $23,645
Oct2018: $23,658
Nov2018: $23,948 (+$290)
Dec2018: $23,960 (+12)
Jan2019: $27,100 (+3140)
Feb2019: $29,443 (+2343)
Mar2019: $31,603 (+2160)
Apr2019: $33,959 (+2356)
May2019: $33,933 (-$26)
Jun2019: $37,928 (+3995)
Jul2019: $39,736 (+1808)
Aug2019: $39,918 (+182)
Sep2019: $34,179 (-5739)
Oct2019: $38,091 (+3912)
Nov2019: $39,867.80 (+1776) Pretty typical month, probably not going to make it to 45k this year, but would if I included the value of the car I bought in September .

Our moonshot goal for 2019 was to hit 100k, knowing that it was likely not going to happen. Revised the goal mid-year for 90k as this was a bit more realistic.... SO CLOSE!!!

Hoping to hit 100k early in 2020, but will be incurring 5-10k in moving costs in May, so looks like we might be in tough to crack 100k in 2020. Fingers crossed.

Thanks @Tass This is mostly due to the markets though. Nothing special happened on my end of things. Just a slowly building tailwind of less interest to paid each month and more interest earned.

20 Dec 18 - 37,800
Mid March 2019 - 45,815
20 June 2019 - 50,890
Mid September 2019 - 57,608
15 October 2019 - 58,927

Down almost 2k this fortnight.. Big unavoidable expenses + market tanking.
It's actually not too bad considering. I even managed to buy a few extra shares.
I'll be back stronger for the first 2020 update!

I've been using Personal Capital to track our net work for a few months, this will be a fun place to keep track and more importantly keep ourselves on the saving path!  I've only used the site to factor investment/retirement accounts against mortgage and car loan balance, I have cash set aside for home improvements\emergency so I didn't want that money to show a inflated NW, also have not used homes value to factor into the calculation.

September 1, 2018 - $16,853
October 1, 2018 - $20,234
April 2, 2019 - $64,781 (forgot about updating this, but was pretty exciting to see!)

November 6, 2019 - $89,158...the grind is paying off

This feels so good...onto the new Race thread for me!  $102,141 NW according to Personal Capital today!!!!

25-8-2018            € 31.993,17
25-9-2018            € 33.185,00 ------> Found MMM
25-10-2018          € 34.433,66
25-11-2018          € 35.556,00
25-12-2018          € 41.939,62
25-1-2019            € 42.082,47
25-2-2019            € 44.338,00
25-3-2019            € 46.218,65
25-4-2019            € 47.829,00
03-6-2019            € 49.478,00
05-7-2019            € 52.722,00
25-7-2019            € 54.736,00
31-8-2019            € 56.431,00
01-10-2019          € 58.445,00
06-11-2019          € 60.308,00

In my first post in this thread I challenged myself to get to 62k before december 5th, that will be tight as I have a small weekend getaway coming up.

06-12-2019          € 61.808,00
26-12-2019          € 64.000,00 (estimate, brokerage accounts will take some time to execute orders)

So I didn't make the 62k goal, as I forked over almost €1k to pay for next year's health insurance in advance & infull- it gets you a small percentage off- even if the weekend getaway was cheaper than expected. December came with the first full thirtheenth month I've ever received, and that feeling I can get used to! I'm going to dump most of it into the market since I've saved enough money to cover for expected expenses in the next couple of years (down-payment etc.).

2020 will be the first year where I'm going to invest more than I'll save, which is feeling good (albeit a little nervewrecking for a money-hoarder like me, but I'll get used to that).

Good to see everyone in this thread making serious progress, bet of luck to you in 2020!

Ending the year at €20.6k, up 21k over Dec 2018. I like.

After-tax-robbery income was 41k, savings 20k, stock returns approx. 1k, underperfoming 100% passive investing. Why? I lost 2.5k on way to risky leveraged longs in the Spring of 2019. I later made back 3.5k, but at idiotic risk.
I learned a lot this year :-D ->

Do not leverage too high, do not use knock-outs, use options instead, if you must.
Keep most investments in indexes.
If you work full time, you don't have the time to follow more than a few companies even if they are in your field of expertise.
Diversify

So savings rate was ~48%. Plan to keep it that way for 2020.

1-1-2018     6455   24k
12-1-2018   9518   37k
4-1-2019    10960  49k
11-6-2019   13466  53k  - start of race

I only have another ~15k in liabilities. I hope to see faster growth in the next year or two.

So close to that 100k mark! Wanted to hit it this year so badly, but still up from 58k in January.

Goal for Q1 2020: hit 100k.
Goal for YE2020: hit 150k.

Assuming this thread carries over to the new year.  New to MMM and the community, trying to get ahold of my financial future. 29y/o with no student debts (woohoo).

3/31/2018 $(14,916.69) - 1 year in
3/31/2019 $9,917.20 - 2 years in
4/30/2019 $19,835.78

11/30/2019 $29,601.50
12/31/2019 $36,186.69 +6,585.19 increase

Another great month, I got a little over $2k in dividends which helped boost up the number but even without that it was a good month. Just continuing to plug away at student loans and maxed out my 401k contribution for the first time ever this year!

If things continue as they have been then I should finish this race by fall 2021 but I am going to try really hard to beat that.

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

9/29/17 - $11,511 (First post in thread)
6/30/18 - $36,000
7/31/18 - $38,676
8/31/18 - $40,277
9/30/18 - $50,572
10/31/18 - $46,085
11/30/18 - $48,956
12/31/18 - $46,003
1/31/19 - $53,028
2/28/19 - $58,276
3/31/2019 - $67,340
4/30/2019 - $70,674
5/31/2019 - $69,853
6/30/2019 - $75,757
7/31/2019 - $78,206
8/31/2019 - $83,589
9/30/2019 - $83,292
10/31/2019 - $87,539
11/30/2019 - $98,502
12/31/2019 - $96,225

December Notes

Well, I did not get paid in December, as I am paid once a month and my December check came early, as reflected in my November, stats. Accordingly, I did not expect much progress this month. What I didn't expect, however, was multiple ER visits for DD. Thankfully she is now perfectly fine, but the resulting LOTSA medical expenses coupled with Christmas and Car Insurance being due led to a pretty rough month. I expect to tip over the $100K mark tomorrow when my January check posts - though my open enrollment benefit changes apparently got screwed up somehow, so exact progress TBD.

I do not include my savings to buy expensive "fun items" like new cellphone, electronics etc. as it is not very big. My checking account is also not included as it has money I will likely spend this month. Goal for 2019 is to make it to $45K.

Net worth:
Dec2017:$7800
Apr2018:$13,200
Aug2018:$22,800
Sep2018: $23,645
Oct2018: $23,658
Nov2018: $23,948 (+$290)
Dec2018: $23,960 (+12)
Jan2019: $27,100 (+3140)
Feb2019: $29,443 (+2343)
Mar2019: $31,603 (+2160)
Apr2019: $33,959 (+2356)
May2019: $33,933 (-$26)
Jun2019: $37,928 (+3995)
Jul2019: $39,736 (+1808)
Aug2019: $39,918 (+182)
Sep2019: $34,179 (-5739)
Oct2019: $38,091 (+3912)
Nov2019: $39,867 (+1776)
Dec2019: $43836 (+$3968/month) (+$19,876/yr)- So close to the 45K goal, if I could have just avoided a car purchase I would have made it. Good Job Everyone!  Goal for 2020: $70k

1/2/2020     $90835.16 (+$2686.57  or  +3.05%)

A decent month.  Always nice to see that number on the far left change.  Normally I don't include my CC balances in my liabilities column because I pay them off frequently enough that it's more or less a wash.  However between xmas and vacation, I had run up a not insignificant balance.  Even though I paid them all off this morning, the money is still sitting in my bank accounts and it seems disingenuous to count the bank account, but not account for the balances.  I don't like seeing that liabilities column go up though.

Jan 01, 2020: $74,276 (+1.56%, +$1,138)

I've spent more in December than I had expected, and it was a mediocre month investmentwise.
SR was 60% for this month, and 60% for the year as well. I wanted to reach a bit better rate, but it is still a good number.
My next year goal is at least 65% savings rate and I want to reach $90k by 2021.

Went to Japan and had a great time, and spending went up. Getting ready to buckle down though and increase our savings rate. Also realized wife has a few thousand dollars in an old 401k that wasnt captured. once that rolls into her current one we will have a little boost.

January update: $96,301.56

Some good investment returns last month :). Might be able to reach 100k at the end of the month. Found out my job is secure until the end of June, so it seems very likely by the end of February.

Just contacted my former pension plan. Commuted value is difficult to calculate and I'll get a figure in six months. But I was assured I will get at least my contributions + interest, so: $6,826.01

So my current net worth:
$65,536.55 + $7,678.96 + $6,826.01 = ‬ $80,041.52‬  Woot!

December 1st update: $86,963.15

I received no pay over the summer, but travelled to England and Italy. I also treated myself to a new MacBook for work/pleasure.

With the threat of layoffs/strikes due to our new anti-education government, I will be slowing down my spending drastically. I know I'd be a lot closer to my $100,000 goal if I hadn't spent money on my trip/new technology, but you got to live a little.

I figure I will reach $100,000 by the end of February if my job remains stable.

All numbers are for joint net worth between my SO and I.

9/1/2018    $ 10,182.02
10/1/2018    $ 14,632.57
11/1/2018    $ 16,671.27
12/1/2018    $ 23,468.48
1/1/2019    $ 30,900.13
2/1/2019    $ 34,820.54
3/1/2019    $ 40,959.03
4/1/2019    $ 48,963.23
5/1/2019    $ 49,324.37
6/1/2019     $ 54,756.42
7/1/2019    $ 62,703.77
8/1/2019    $ 68,173.37
9/1/2019    $ 71,590.05
10/1/2019    $ 74,831.89
11/1/2019    $ 80,846.08
12/1/2019    $ 85,705.97
1/1/2020    $ 94,851.23

My NW made up about 80%, his about 20%. With a pay raise, a lean spending trend, and hopeful continued good market performance, we should hit 100k - and graduate this thread - before Feb 1.

A nice big jump! I expected this from quarterly 401k and dividends but maybe not as big. Very pleasant although I could have done even better. Objective is now to be over 90k before middle of the year unless the market tanks. If I limit going out and cycle to work, very do able.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
