________
I made it! 36 months since I first crossed $10k in August of 2013. I graduated school in June 2012 and had a full year without much progress. I believe I started reading MMM sometime that year and really began making changes when I switched to a higher paying job in Sept 2013.
I had a few backslides from tax issues and moving to switch jobs twice, leading to paycheck gaps and moving expenses. But both times increased my salary substantially. I am actually planning another strategic move soon to lower my COL in a new area.
What I did well the last three years: increasing my TSP with every raise, maxing an HSA, maxing my Roth IRA, picking up a side job that sometimes pays better hourly than my day job, automatic savings allocations for a house down payment. My paycheck after deductions and savings allocations is less money than I was regularly spending in 2012, when my salary was 50% of what it is now :)
Hope to see the rest of you soon in the race to $250k thread!!
