It's not the first of the month yet, but I *think* that between an old IRA rolling over to my TSP, pretty good gains in the last two weeks, and making a couple of big payments, I should be just over the $100k mark.  I guess technically I'm already there, but I've never counted that old IRA in my NW calculations.  Unless the market seriously takes a crap before March I should be graduating soon.

20 Dec 18 - 37,800
Mid March 2019 - 45,815
20 June 2019 - 50,890
Mid September 2019 - 57,608
15 October 2019 - 58,927
15 November 2019 - 64,594
15 December 2019 - 65,794
15 January 2020 - 69,388
1 February 2020 - 74,415
15 February 2020 - 76,452

Market rally is still going, and I have been relatively good, except for booze and eating out. Changing jobs with a small pay rise and having some leave paid out when I switch should make a pretty big jump in there.
It's always hard to predict but I'm starting to hope I will graduate before July first? That would be crazy.

Back to standard growth after a great saving month in January. I can expect between $4,250.00-$4,750.00 in growth each month for now.
If this growth keeps up then I am looking at mid-June for graduation. July 1 2020 to be safe, barring any funky market activity.

Not posted on here for a few months, but still been plodding on.

Here are some of my recent figures:

November: £25,364.54

December:£28,281.07

January:£28,407.70

February: £30,286.23

I'm finally past the £30k mark which is brilliant.  It's taking me an average of 7.5 months to increase my N/W by £10k, which implies I'll still be in this thread for over another 4 years.

I have been spending a lot on my wedding, which hasn't helped speed along with proceedings, and once that's out of the way I'll be ramping up my investments even more so.  My salary is going to increase by roughly £10k pa (before taxes) in April, which will also contribute.  I've been working more on my matched betting side hustle which is paying dividends.

I've also had a new business idea I'm interested in trying out, so I'm going to give that some thought this week, but might contribute some money towards it.

Hope you're all hitting your targets and steering clear of COVID19. :')

@Manchester you're doing really great! Especially if this includes wedding spending. And congrats on the big raise!

I started a thread about owning a business last year. My business isn't making me rich yet but I'm earning some money and I'm learning a lot and meeting new people. I'm really glad I did it.

Thanks, and yes, the numbers include my wedding spending (which is a lot more than I'd like it to be).  We're doing certain things to reduce costs, but the wedding is quite a big deal to both our families.  Fortunately, we're expecting quite a bit of money back in the form of gifts on the day, so I'm hoping it gives me a big bump around August.

I'll have to take a look at that thread, I've not seen it so far but would love to have a look.  I'm one of those people who has a new business idea every other day.  I've got one I'm working on at the moment, but I'm just hoping one day I come up with something that takes me from a fairly high earner to a rediculous salary like some people on this forum seem to earn.  We keep plodding onwards! :)

I'm in:) Nice to see some familiar faces too - good going everybody!

The first goal was $50K by Dec 31, 2019.
I projected it would take me two and a half years (30 mo) but it took me only 26 months - pushing real hard.
During that time other expenditures kept me scrambling, like two new (to us) cars $25K, two overseas trips $13K (two and three months each), paid off a loan early with $4K cash, elective surgery $7K and an interfering jewelry habit - yeah well, I'm not exactly a poster child mushtashian:).

New goal: $100K by Dec 31, 2021

Savings history:
$  4,588 June 2017
$ 10,117 Dec 2017

$ 10,715 Jan 2018
$ 31,034 Dec 2018

$ 31,094 Jan 2019
$ 50,000 Dec 2019

$ 53,000 Jan 2020
$ 56,000 Feb 2020

My projection is $60K by April 2020 - by then I intend to revisit my strategy.
My fixed goal is to reach at least $70K minimum by EOY 2020, preferably $75K.
We'll see how it all goes - 2020 is shaping up to potentially be a very interesting year in many aspects.

February 2019 - $23,933
March 2019 - $25,416
April 2019 - $26,812
May 2019 - $26,575
June 2019 - $27,758
July 2019 - $29,419
August 2019 - $29,884
September 2019 - $30,602
October 2019 - $31,770
November 2019 - $33,081
December 2019 - $34,820
January 2020 - $36,392

February 2020 - $35,701

Whomp-whomp.  First time going down in a while, but it's only due to the market.  I'm just kind of excited to have enough money invested to feel the market fluctuations now!  My 401K is down over $2K.  So...yay?  Haha.

The market swept about $5k of my net worth over the last two weeks. No big deal. Still maxing 401(k) and contributing to my IRA/HSA as planned. I did sweep a little extra cash into my HYSA because it’s a little lower than I’d like it to be, but other than that I’m just staying the course and not thinking about the market much.

SO and I are eating a lot more healthy food, more plant-based, and spending less on restaurants. It’s been a lifesaver on the wallet!

Mid March 2019 - 45,815
20 June 2019 - 50,890

1 February 2020 - 74,415
15 February 2020 - 76,452
1 March 2020 - 72,765

Massive hit from the correction, but overall travelling well. I bought some stocks on sale and will continue to invest as much as possible over the next month.
I guess it's a more realistic assessment of my NW anyway as it had been growing very fast.

01/02/2020: 14.363,54 € (+1.384,27 €)

01/03/2020: 15.039,09 € (+675,56 €)

I guess being early in the accumulation phase helps with the recent downturn. Savings outweighed paper lossed, but it still stings that all my February investments went into the market at the peak.

A lot of locomotion with the invesments. I made some huge gains (percent wise) early in the month on long straddle option strategies. Re-invested the gains and poof comes the correction.
However I also bought put options on ETFs and almost neutralized my stance just before the sell-off got serious.

Investments incl. PUTS: 27,807€
Cash: 1,000€
Illiquid stuff (car, corporate pension...): 1,971€
CC and loan: -5,456€
Total: 25,322€ (+2,603€)

You'll have a chance to buy the dip next month - or if you don't, we'll all be marveling at the amazingly fast recovery. ;)

January 2018: $18,944.35
February 2018: $22,047.46
March 2018: $23,463.61
April 2018: $24,224.19
May 2018: $26,173
Jun 2018: $29,519.62

October 2018: $29,676.50
November 2018: $32,923.90
December 2018: $34,394.85
January 2019: $39,825.43
February 2019" $43,508.66
April 2019: $48,394.91
July 2019: $80,041.52 (Big jump because as a teacher I receive pay that's held back over the year to cover me for the summer -- basically three paycheques at once. I also started to include my pension value in net worth)‬
December 2019: $86,963.15

January 2020: $96,301.56
February 2020: $101,272.15.
March 2020: $102,362.65

Moved up a little bit this month but lost a ton of gains on the market. Hoping the market recovers this month. Did not advance enough this month to feel comfortable that I've truly graduated. from the thread.

Feb 1st 2020 Update:$101,272.15.  WOOT!!

Figure I'll stick around for another month to ensure that I stay over the goal :) This includes $17,405.32 in pension contributions that are hard to value... but since I'm early in my career, if I were to quit today, I'd get back the value of my contributions... so it's worth at least that.

Also includes $4000 in held pay that I'm counting. Essentially, it's pay that I've earned but my district holds onto it until the summer as they think they are helping us budget for the summer when we receive no pay (in reality, I'd much rather have the money up front and earn interest, but sadly that's not an option in this district).

January update: $96,301.56

Some good investment returns last month :). Might be able to reach 100k at the end of the month. Found out my job is secure until the end of June, so it seems very likely by the end of February.

Just contacted my former pension plan. Commuted value is difficult to calculate and I'll get a figure in six months. But I was assured I will get at least my contributions + interest, so: $6,826.01

So my current net worth:
$65,536.55 + $7,678.96 + $6,826.01 = ‬ $80,041.52‬  Woot!

December 1st update: $86,963.15

I received no pay over the summer, but travelled to England and Italy. I also treated myself to a new MacBook for work/pleasure.

With the threat of layoffs/strikes due to our new anti-education government, I will be slowing down my spending drastically. I know I'd be a lot closer to my $100,000 goal if I hadn't spent money on my trip/new technology, but you got to live a little.

I figure I will reach $100,000 by the end of February if my job remains stable.

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

9/29/17 - $11,511 (First post in thread)
6/30/18 - $36,000
7/31/18 - $38,676
8/31/18 - $40,277
9/30/18 - $50,572
10/31/18 - $46,085
11/30/18 - $48,956
12/31/18 - $46,003
1/31/19 - $53,028
2/28/19 - $58,276
3/31/2019 - $67,340
4/30/2019 - $70,674
5/31/2019 - $69,853
6/30/2019 - $75,757
7/31/2019 - $78,206
8/31/2019 - $83,589
9/30/2019 - $83,292
10/31/2019 - $87,539
11/30/2019 - $98,502
12/31/2019 - $96,225
1/31/2020 - $96,048
2/29/2020 - $94,556

February Notes

My retirement accounts lost $10K over the last week. Had the market simply held steady I would have been graduating. Not going to complain, though. Just going to keep pushing.

3/2/2020     $100,165.23(+6268.42   or   +6.68%)

I made it.  Just barely, but I made it.  Mostly due to a tax refund (I know, I know...face punch me...but it's probably for the best this year) and rolling an old IRA over into one of the accounts I track for NW.  I may stick around here for one more month because I have an expected expense coming up soon that will knock me back down under $100k (stupid fender bender).

I'm really upset that I didn't hit 15k with the minor dip in the market. So close... I'll be nearing 16k by the end of the month, though.

3-01-20       14632   58k

Yeah, so about that "nearly 16k"... Ah, well, at least the NW is growing and the dollars being invested are buying more?

I've been lurking on these boards for ages, then finally made an account and continued to lurk because for some reason I'm really shy on the internet. But I've followed this board over the past little while and found it super motivating, and want to finally throw my hat into the race!

I've been calculating my net worth for the past few years, but didn't start keeping a record of it until EOY 2019, so that's when I'll start my list:

Net Worth
Dec 2019 = $32,211.58
Jan 2020 = $33,874.65 (+ $1,663.07)
Feb 2020 = $36,738.94 (+ $2,864.29)

The market correction brought me down from a mid-month high of $44k, which is pretty disappointing, but I was glad to see I contributed enough (by throwing a small windfall at my student loans) to still gain over $2k this month.

2020 savings goals:
$8000 / $21,100 to student loans
$1725.59 / $12,800 to investments
$9725.59 / $33,900 total

If I can hit these savings goals I will end the year at $66k even if the market stays flat. (This is assuming I will get bumped up to full time in July, as I have been promised, but will know for sure in June. Fingers crossed, because I really like this place and want to be able to afford to stay...)

Though it was all paper losses it still hurts ):
On a positive note: contributed to a Roth for the first time with my tax refund!

Jan 2020: 67,932.57
Feb 2020: 80,369.63
Mar 2020: 80,329.80 <- deceiving as my contributions mask the losses.

Got a boost from employer 401k match!

Since 5th March my investments took a dive (one ETF -26%), so my current net worth is around $68k.
I'm not concerned at all, as I expect this situation is temporary. I even bought more from that ETF.

01/06/2020: $69,508.25
01/17/2020: $73,128.38
01/31/2020: $77,313.16
02/16/2020: $80,269.73
02/28/2020: $77,245.88

03/13/2020: $70,222.54 (-$7,023.34)

I drafted up a written investment plan on the 10th and am so glad I did. I’m holding my ground and continuing to invest as normal, with a small exception that I’m focusing on building back my eFund in a HYSA. I’m at 4 months of expenses and would like to have 6 as a minimum, so an extra $1.15k was left in cash while I continued to max my retirement accounts ($1.13k between 401k/IRA/HSA as 1/26th the max since I’m paid 26x per year).

Jan2020:$ 45,839 (+$2003)

I reckon this thread might go very quiet over the next few months.  :')

Only 8 days to go and I can buy some more stocks on sale! I am not too bothered by the losses, as I am only just starting the accumulation phase. I can buy more numbers this month than normal, that is what I am focusing on.

Absolutely! We have probably lost over $50k(I haven`t looked) over the last month, but we are still buying in! VTSAX is now at $58 a share and down from the almost $84 a month ago.
Now, I am using more trepidation when buying it though. I am buying at steps instead of just throwing a huge amount into it at once. I did that a few weeks ago
and I regret it. Unless a vaccine is truly produced shortly or the virus isolation works wonders, the stock market will keep dropping for a while. I`m not timing the market,
but I am easing my way slowly into this drop with my independent buys. Our 401K and HSA contributions are not changing though. It`ll be hard enough to max contributions
as it is, and the tax deductions are astounding!

20 June 2019 - 50,890
Mid September 2019 - 57,608
15 October 2019 - 58,927
15 November 2019 - 64,594
15 December 2019 - 65,794

My investments are way down but I got a fair bit of cash at the moment, so buying a LOT of stocks on sale. Quite excited to think how big it will be when it gets back out, plus better P/E ratios.
Graduation will have to wait longer with a headwind but I have faith in the future as I got a significant pay increase recently.

My monthly update:

Net Worth is down £3,230.62 to £27,055.38.

This is my first market crash since I've started my path to FI and I'm trying to follow all the advice from the community.  Absolutely no panicking, no stress, just investing as much spare cash as I can.  I've put loads in this month and my ISA is actually £700 down from last month including these investments.  I've got a really healthy EF to fall back on if SHTF.

Sounds like you're taking advantage of the situation which is great.  I'm in a perfect position for a market crash.  I'm 26, no dependents, stable job etc...

Trying to put as much in my ISA as I can before the end of the month when the tax year changes in the UK.  I think I could potentially max it out next year so every penny I put in now helps.  Couldn't really have timed this outbreak any better!

Hope you and everyone else on this board is staying safe :)

Goal: $100K by Dec 31, 2021

$  4,588 June 2017
$ 10,117 Dec 2017

$ 10,715 Jan 2018
$ 31,034 Dec 2018

$ 31,094 Jan 2019

$ 53,000 Jan 2020
$ 56,000 Feb 2020

Update - $58K Mar 2020
Projected for April - $60K ~

I am not expecting any losses only continued gains/interest for another 16 months.
This is all nothing but a cash cushion, in various CDs or savings accounts for just such an emergency as we are currently facing.
Meanwhile, Mr. R's portfolio is taking a severe beating - not what you hope for when you planned to retire in three years.

Sorry to hear that.  Well done for accumulating a significant EF.  Good luck in your search for a new job.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
