July Update

Dec 2016 - 45,241
Jan 2017 - 55,143
Feb 2017 - 58,240
Mar 2017 - 69,145
Apr 2017 - 74,332
May 2017- 77,877
Jun 2017 - 82,443
Jul 2017 - 85,688

A little over 3k increase in net worth for July. Which I consider pretty good as I contributed $2500 to investment accounts and  my total investment balance only increased $60 😤.

Not starting under $10k... But hopefully I can join anyways.  My wife and I are 32 and 34 respectively, and are expecting our first child in October!

Not counting home equity($100k-ish):

My Personal RRSP: $9800(All in XAW)
My Work RRSP: 7500(Misc Sun Life Canadian Equity Index Funds)
Wife RRSP: $9900(currently in cash, in the process of transferring banks)
Chequing: $8900
Credit Card: -$3600(big credit card month partly due to eventual baby, it's paid off monthly)
Total: $32,500
Not counted: Expected tax return due to RRSP Contributions thus far: $4400

My wife will be on Mat Leave for a year starting in October, so the trek to $100k might be a slow one. During her year off, we can only save about $1k per month.  Will be able to save around $3000/month once she's back to work.

I'm going to set our $100k goal for the end of 2019.

July 31 - $36,150 (not including $4400 tax return accrual)

I only really track my 401k balance and only for the last couple years.

In my 20s I put something like 10% in and thought I was doing great (better than average), we also tackled 1 student loan, 2 car loans, credit card debt, and bought our 1st home (now a rental).  For the last several years I have only been putting 6% (plus a company match) into the 401k, while we saved for a wedding, down payment on a house, started a family, went to 1 steady income and 1 self employed income, and are continuing the last student loan.  We are still working on paying off my last student loan and building the self employed income but I am really hoping to hit $100k in the 401k sometime in 2018, if the self employed income starts taking off and we can contribute more to an IRA I will add that into the calculations too.

I did do a quick back of the envelope net worth calculation that included debt, primary and rental home value, and vehicle value and that put net worth around $150k, but since I don't regularly track that stuff I don't want to join the next group until the retirement accounts are above $100k.

                    401K          IRA          Total
Dec 2013:   $43,660     $0           $43,660
Dec 2014:   $52,943     $0           $52,943
Dec 2015:   $55,622     $0           $55,622
Dec 2016:   $68,870     $700       $69,570
Feb 2017:   $74,784      $700       $75,484
 4/11/17:    $76,834     $1002      $77,836
Apr 2017:   $78,946      $1026     $79,972
 5/24/17:    $80,007     $1040      $81,047
 6/05/17:    $82,048     $1057      $83,105
 7/21/17:    $84,508     $1075      $85,583
 8/02/17:    $85,737     $1075      $86,812

We are now expecting a new family member in early 2018 and I haven't decided if we are going to divert anything from 401k to savings for medical/maternity leave yet.
I really don't want to since I just bumped it back up but we will have to see how the self employment goes.  I wasn't actually able to check the IRA because I have managed to completely forget the password for now, so I just used the same number as the last check.

Still plugging away.  I'm less than a month away from being completely debt free.  I have $1600.00 on my line of credit that will be wiped out, then I can make contributions to my investments again.  I withdrew a bit from my emergency fund to help a friend with groceries and new clothes after a house fire.  I don't expect if back, it was a gift.  I do have some vehicle repairs coming up, so I may need to dip into the E-fund again, but this is what I have it for.  I'm in the military and my job is very stable, so I'm not too concerned for the short-term withdrawal from the emergency fund.

Hi all. Recent graduate from the 0-10k race, 100k seems a very long way off but I'm sure I'll get there, I think a reasonable target is 2020.

April £1250
May £2515
June £3841
July £6774 / $8705
August £8916 / $11597 !

Welcome aboard ClickHappy!  There are lots of folks here just starting on that journey to $100k.

Great job everyone -- keep plugging along, and before you know it that big, solid $100k foundation of your financial 'house' will be built.  And from there it goes faster and faster.  Onward!

I did it! I set myself a little challenge to get to 10x NW compared to 2 years ago, when I started tracking. Really happy with that. It's also great to see that snowball getting bigger. First year my NW increased 18k, second year it increased 31k. I'm so glad I joined this thread, it's so motivating to see my own progress and really fun to see how everyone else is doing!

Did the cruise (2250$), got my wisdom tooths out (1350$). NW is now at 87k.  Got a second job so I'm hoping I'll be able to increase my income a bit.

Only a small bump this month.  I blame it on lack of focus and a trip to Michigan.  I am going to buckle down and get over the hump next month.  I'm ready to graduate to a new thread!

2017-02-01   -$24,977

2017-08-01    $39,025
2017-00-01    $49,626  (+$10,601 this month)

Really proud of this month, I'm humbled by the great job (though no job security) I have that allows these astronomical monthly numbers for me but this month took a ton of effort to not relapse into my old summer habits.
Just starting on my FIRE journey, hopefully posting here creates accountability and eventually lowers my very anti-mustachian life habits.

Still trying to decide if we are going to divert anything from 401k to savings for medical/maternity leave yet (or to add a some extra to finish off my last SL).  The IRA isn't grow very much but that is because we leave the SE money sitting in an savings account until tax time and we determine how much we owe.  Maybe that is a bad plan and we should store it in the IRA?

mustache you a question

Good month but should have been better.  Took out 1k to start a business venture, my lease ran out on my car (thank god) but had to pay fees to get rid of it (btw never leasing again!), and bought a used car.  Still pretty good I would say.

2/1/2017 - ($6,832)
3/1/2017 -   $66
4/1/2017 - $ 6,298
5/1/2017 - $12,179
6/1/2017 - $17,418
7/1/2017 - $21,303
8/1/2017 - $28,136
9/1/2017 - $29,233

Not as good as I'd like, but I did have a week of vacation. I also went through and re-did when I measured my 401k, which led to an effective decrease, but will make monitoring easier from now on.

Dreadmoose that is amazing progress!   Great job!

Thank you Trifele, I love the support everyone here supplies each other. Makes it 1000x easier to exercise the MMM muscles.
Just starting on my FIRE journey, hopefully posting here creates accountability and eventually lowers my very anti-mustachian life habits.

Slow gains, but at least was a gain. Moved this month to a cheaper apartment, so will save $350 extra a month from that, but incurred some moving expenses/additional damage deposit. Also some ETF drops again. Ate out for lunch a lot-  patio season is something I suck at exercising my MMM muscles on..

April '17 £1250
May '17 £2515
June '17 £3841
July '17 £6774 / $8705
August '17 £8916 / $11597 !

September '17 £10,812

Still plugging away, savings automated so I just pop in to check on them for these updates.

Have been finding it easier to avoid takeaway and minimise restaurant visits, getting out of the habit! Buying less in general and shopping around for better deals on phone/internet etc. (Not switched yet though).

I'm due some overtime pay over next couple of months and my wife is getting a pay rise, hoping to knock a few months of the FI date.

I'm almost there. No debts and $98,490.29 invested as of EOB today.

Maybe twice that if you count my paid for condo, my paid for car, everything else I own, cash & checking account. If only I'd started earlier.

I actually didn't expect an increase, tiny as it is, considering the slight downturn in the market, a brand new bike and trips to Dublin and Disney. Gonna count it as a win!

Hello everyone! It is my first time posting in this thread, I just made by way over from the race to $10k thread which I just surpassed.

Here is a basic breakdown of the numbers as of the end of the day today:

Total Cash/Cash Equivalents: $31,642
Total Liabilities: $20,131

Net Worth: $11,511

Virtually all of my liabilities are student loans. I also have some minor balances on my credit cards, which I pay off monthly. I've been aggressively attacking the student loans (see my participation in the student loan challenge if curious) and have made steady progress.

As for asset composition,  20% are in checking accounts, 13% is in my HSA and 67% is in my 401k.

I'm looking forward to following everyone's progress. Good luck to us all!

So I’ve been semi-purposely MIA in this thread since May.  Took a big hit between moving to Alaska and being off rotation with my job.  I was planning to update this month anyway (since I just built back up to May $$ levels), but I just received an inheritance that’s been in limbo for nearly 2 years, so I got bumped up an extra ~10k. November is looking like the month I graduate!

Congratulations, JerryRice!!  Huge milestone accomplishment.  :)

Welcome aboard Jim Fiction!  You burned up the 10k challenge, and you will do great here as well.

Welcome back AcftW, though you are doing so well you won't be here long, it looks like.  :)

Took me 10 years of my adult working life to have 45k in net worth. I have doubled that in 9 months. It is amazing how tracking expenses and focused savings can show great results so quickly. Thank you everyone on this forum for your motivation and inspiration.

You are so right about this Deek.  Once that focus is there, the progress picks up.  And it goes faster and faster the larger the 'stache gets.  Great job.

New to the race here.  Your posts have been an inspiration for me over the last few years (helping me climb out of $120k student loan debt in two years).  I'm very happy to to be ready to join you all in this race!
