I made this:  A Purrsonal finance workbook - an illustrated cat-filled money workbook (with plenty of mustachianism)

My weekly personal finance podcast aimed at millennials and freelancers but applicable to all

At least 50% of my business plan is cats, 25% is glitter spandex, the journal

Glad to hear things are looking up, and after only a few months.  I think that's great progress.   I've enjoyed reading about your self employment adventure, but need to catch up after a break from the forum.

DH and I are planning to start our own self employ venture within the next year.  Hopefully we will be as fortunate (hardworking) as you.

I only really track my 401k balance (at end of month) and only for the last couple years.

In my 20s I put something like 10% in and thought I was doing great (better than average), we also tackled 1 student loan, 2 car loans, credit card debt, and bought our 1st home (now a rental).  For the last several years I have only been putting 6% (plus a company match) into the 401k, while we saved for a wedding, down payment on a house, started a family, went to 1 steady income and 1 self employed income, and are continuing the last student loan.  We are still working on paying off my last student loan and building the self employed income but I am really hoping to hit $100k in the 401k sometime in 2018, if the self employed income starts taking off and we can contribute more to an IRA I will add that into the calculations too.

Dec 2013: $43,660
Dec 2014: $52,943
Dec 2015: $55,622
Dec 2016: $68,870
Feb 2017: $74,784

I did do a quick back of the envelope net worth calculation that included debt, primary and rental home value, and vehicle value and that put net worth around $150k, but since I don't regularly track that stuff I don't want to join the next group until the retirement accounts are above $100k.

New member to the forum, but I'll join, considering only our investment/cash.
4/2015  - $7,000 total savings!! (we were living like there's no tomorrow, but new job matched 100% up to 6%, so this was our  trigger to start saving)
12/2015 - $13,000
4/2016  -  $25,000 (started maxing out my 401K)
12/2016 - $52,000
3/17      - $84,000

Starting 2017, my wife and I will be contributing max to our 401Ks, ROTH and HSA (me only) so we should, hopefully, accumulate pretty fast.

- Richard

3/16/17 - 95500. I was fortunate enough to receive a pretty decent (to me) bonus last week, plus the first 6% my company matched 100% into my 401K, so our number has risen quite a bit in a couple weeks time. Hoping we cross the 100K threshold next month. I'm pretty excited.

Stay the course, everyone!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, my fellow green Mustachians! I'm happy to report me 401K pot o' gold just crossed $60K, bringing my total NW to over $93K! Just a few more months until I graduate to the next level!

Hi folks, I'm new to the boards, though I've been lurking for a month or so, and thought I'd jump into this thread (I'll go introduce myself in the welcome thread, too). Nice to meet y'all!

I've only started tracking my net worth this year, so:

January 2017:  $54,765.72
February 2017: $58,616.88
March 2017:     $62,304.54

I've been digging myself out of CC and other consumer debt for the past few years, and will be completely out from under the credit cards by the fall equinox - and then I anticipate seeing these numbers really take off.

August 2016      $64,120.62
September 2016.  $66,961.32

Wow, great work BeautifulDay! You made some big jumps in there.

I added my NW to my sig line, but I wanted to participate in this journal as well. We have some big expenses coming up in the next month or two (repairs/improvements around the house), so it will take a little step back.

Might be hanging out in this thread for a while.

Great to see everybody's numbers.  And it's amazing to see how much and how quickly some of you can grow your stash.
I'm happy to say I'm almost ready to join the next group. Just a few more months (unless the market tanks).
As always I didn't include the value of my house since I don't consider it a asset until I'm ready to sell it.

Happy weekend everyone!  Great to see your end of month numbers.

Belated congratulations to CmFtns for crossing the $100k mark. Well done!

Looks like there will be a bunch more graduations and celebrations within the next month or two:

- Beautiful Day
- RG422
- MVal
- dogboyslim
- Pooperman
- Merlin7676

Be sure to let us know when you cross the mark!  Anyone else getting close?

And we have a bunch of other folks in the $60 - $80k range, as well as new folks just making it into the 20s.  Nice job everyone.

Feb 1 2017   $59995
Mar 1 2017   $65150
Apr 1 2017   $70592

In March I had a higher savings rate, but the market was less exciting than it had been earlier in the year.  Net result is pretty linear month over month.  Currently on track / slightly ahead of schedule for my goal.

I am getting close! I have been updating the spreadsheet since the beginning, but have not posted on this thread in awhile! I can't believe I'm almost there! Hopefully participating in Uber Frugal April and a good May as well will get me over the edge in the next two months!

Hi everyone, first time posting. Just found MMM in the last 2 months. To cut costs the company I work for reduced salaries by 20% from April - August last year. As you can tell, I did not adjust my spending and my savings in 2016 suffered. They will be doing that again this year and I'm hoping posting here will help motivate me to really cut my spending during these reduced salary months! I also have the benefit this year of having discovered Mustachianism, so hopefully I will make some nice progress.

Seeing some of these monthly increases is very eye opening.  Some of you add more to your net worth every month than our entire monthly income!

We are still focusing on debt pay-off and will probably not add to the IRA again until tax time next year.  I did want to get it to a $ amount that it can actually be invested so we bumped it up to $1000.

                  401K        IRA        Total
Dec 2013: $43,660   $0         $43,660
Dec 2014: $52,943   $0         $52,943
Dec 2015: $55,622   $0         $55,622
Dec 2016: $68,870   $700     $69,570
Feb 2017: $74,784    $700     $75,484
 4/11/17: $76,834    $1002   $77,836

Welcome Unlikelycrotchgardener!  That is quite a username.  Afraid to ask if there's a story there.

You've made some great progress since the beginning of '15.  Way to hang in there when the income took a hit.

April 2017: $63,589.66

Small progress, but progress nonetheless.
