One Song Wonder: Early Sept

one song: one improvement [one week]
The brain child of @joonifloofeefloo
Thread Sept 1 - 15

After a short time, we lock the thread and start a new one so people aren't receiving notifications for the rest of their lives.

The idea: You know those tasks that are quick and really improve your day, but you avoid like the plague? This thread supports us to set press play on the song of our choice and move on that task for the duration of the song. Extra Challenge: Whenever we see this thread because someone has bumped it up with a new "go", whoever is on it stops what they're doing, and joins in.

Stuff one might improve, depending on personal circumstances:

*improve minimalism: scan stuff
*improve personal security: shred stuff
*improve environment: put dry dishes away
*improve mood: write a thank you note
*improve body: do pushups
*improve blood sugar: eat some protein
*improve ambience: put the thing back into the storage room
*improve foot happiness: vacuum one room
*improve stress load: wash one unmentionable
*improve floor smoothness: wash one section of floor

OP NOTE:  I will be travelling in the second half of the month.  If another participant would like to post the 9/16+ thread, that's be peachy-keen!

Even the Darkness Has Arms: The Barr Brothers
California Dreaming: Amason

I've been procrastinating this task: got all the recycling sorted and garbage into one bag (we aren't using plastic bags in our bins to reduce waste..it's amazing how it's minimized our garbage--almost everything gets composed or recycled now!)

Momentum meant that I even got dressed to take it out into public and composted a bunch of decomposing flowers at the same time :)

Much of life is in great shape! I do have two things to attend to, both of which I feel overwhelmed at the thought of:

1. For first time in my life, hook up washer and dryer. (Did buy the hoses, etc, two days ago.)

2. For the fourth time since purchase, attempt to make printer work as advertised. A few weeks ago it stopped printing personal documents in colour, while continuing to print webpages in colour. I have a list of steps to follow, which may or may not work. Done! [Uninstall every trace of printer software, reinstall full drivers.]

Can't do a song right now, as I need ears on an extra-small, dysregulated child in my care, so just noting these as prep for later.

ETA: I've decided the child's sweet happy sounds will be my song for this, so...

*located the written instructions for abovementioned jobs, set them out
*made myself a fluffy coffee to increase enjoyment of tasks
*processed the rest of the papers in the stack they were resting in
*finalized and sent a letter-to-editor on a matter; put magazine I was responding to in recycling
*shredded 37 pages whose notes had been incorporated into spreadsheets over the last two weeks
*entered work cheque details x2 into YNAB; filed copies
*texted new playmate with my info
*followed up on fax

jooni, the washer/dryer hookup is about as complicated as putting air in your own tires.

Cinderella: Don't Know What You Got Till It's Gone

Since I find Tom Keifer's raspy voice oddly soothing, I did the stretches to reduce foot pain, then put flea medicine on the cat.

But I never learned that part! I only learned how to check the air levels...and they were fine so that's all I know so far, lol.

Tomorrow I take on the W/D. Will check out your Sir Raspy for that.

Hope to goodness this isn't true. Just spent all this time trying to attach the vent to the dryer, and in the end had a rather smooshed vent, which isn't okay. Will make a post on the DIY.

Can I play it this way? For one song after another, do NOT attempt the dryer (today). That would be a life improvement.

But I'll put it this way for now:

Ma Muse: Just Fine
*make and sip a frothy hot chocolate, to support deep rest and further nourishment

Can I play it this way? (snip)

Of course you may!

I'm still on my "good old days" music kick, so Guns'n'Roses Don't Cry got me through my brief bodyweight routine.  I need All The Motivation for this.
